Hi there: Of course you are angry and no doubt depressed. In this situation, I think most of us are. I know I am. You are NOT crazy though... Don't let this doctor make you feel bad about it. Hopefully, the new doc will be a little more kind in your office visit. See if you can get your Ultrasound and the report and have it in hand when you go for the new appointment. Write down a list of the pertinent things you want to ask about and try to stay as much as possible on a neutral ground. Ex. When can you do surgery? Will you do an en bloc procedure? Stuff like that... Take a notepad and pen with you so you can write down what he says... Try and remember that your objective here is to get explanted ASAP and not to make a believer of silicone induced illness out of him/her.... You don't have to convince us you are sick from your implants, we know you are. But, he has a zillion other plastic surgeons agreeing (stupidly, I might add) that implants do not make people sick.) Agreeing with you does not make his Mercedes payment, but if he is good, you need his skill, not his opinion... You know, I was thinking that maybe, in some circumstances, that it would be easier on people going through this, if they had someone who had already experienced this, go with them to their PS appointment... Guest guest
Pynerone, If you'll click on the "Visit Your Group" , on the link below, you'll be able to access our archives. . . Then go to "Files" . . We recommend a number of surgeons who will take your problems seriously . . Some of them will answer your questions via email. If you can't find one near you, we can help you with questions to ask before even going in for a consult. Most plastic surgeons get defensive when illness from breast implants is brought up . . . IMHO, the reason is lots of denial and guilt. The good news is that you can get much, much better by having your implants properly removed and detoxing. . . It may take some time - but it's well worth the effort to get your life back! Hugs and prayers, Rogene
Guest guest
Hi Pynerone, I can understand your frustration. This is the way it goes for most women seeking to get their implants removed. That is why we have our list of recomended surgeons. While they are not all totally in agreement with our side of the issue, most of them know how to do a proper removal, and ultimately, that is what we are after. The list takes away the stress of having to find a doctor on your own, and go through this fist-clenching, teeth grinding headache of consulting with some of these other docotrs who has no clue as to what we are dealing with. Have you looked at our list? Where are you? I know you are sick of being sick, and just want someone to hear you. We do. We've been there, and know these hurts and frustrations and how to deal with them. The first thing you need is a good doctor, and we can either help point the way, or give you the tools you need to find the right one. Have you looked through the explant folder? You could just print off some questions to ask your explanting doctor. You really don't need to explain your illness to them. Just tell them you want an en bloc removal or a total capsulectomy and drains and don't budge from that position. They don't need to know any more details if they are going to argue with you. You are not there to argue about whether or not implants cause illness. You are there to obtain their services. If they can't provide them, you move on to the next one until you find the right doctor. I hope that helps. We will support you through this time in the best way we can. Guest guest
Good idea Cathie, Not only does having someone knowledgable help, but seems women are treated with more respect if they have a witness with them. Even if the witness knows nothing about implants or explanting . . .just keeping ones mouth shut and taking notes will put a doctor on notice. And, by all means, take notes!. . . I'd ask the doctor if he will allow the explant to be video taped as well. . . Rogene
Guest guest
I know EXACTLY how you feel!! I am slowly starting to get my health back, week by week since my surgery on 4/13. Prior to surgery, my doctors diagnosed me with depression and anxiety. Well I am sorry, but anybody would be depressed if they felt as awful, hopeless and helpless as we do!! I also felt as if my head were to heavy for my neck to hold it up. I still have that problem but seems to be a bit better since explant. I am seeing a chiropractor, which is helping. He is doing x- rays next week to check for degeneration. What has helped is putting one of the 1/2 moon like dounuts (not sure if I am explaining it right) around my neck. Hang in there... keep posting. Lynn -- In , " pynerone " <pynerone@...> wrote: > > I went to see a surgeon on Wednesday about explant surgery. It was a > disaster. Guest guest
>>>>>>>The thing is, my implants are saline but the surgeon said if they were saline they would be empty, not leaking siowly. <<<<<<< , This isn't true. You can have a slow leak, especially if it's through a faulty valve. Leaks can be so slow they can only leak a drop or two here and there. My first set of implants began leaking immediately, and I couldn't remove them because I didn't have the funds. From October 1997 to April 1999, it only went down 1 cup size. And Mentor themselves told me it was a faulty valve. Then, my second set I got April 1999 did the same thing. I have record of having been to doctors who've agreed I have a slow leak for the past 8 years starting from 6 months after surgery when I noticed a volume change, except that first doctor who implanted me told me it was just one dropping faster than the other. (Probably because he was about to leave the country and didn't want to fool with me.) It's taken 8 years of leaking, and it's about half the size of the other one --- and really, most of that happened over the past year. For some reason, it got worse when I quit being able to wear regular bras and went with sports bras because the tissue up under my breasts and armpits hurts so bad I can't stand a regular one. (Sports bras still hurt, but I can handle them a few hours.) Anyway... leaks CAN be slow. I've had many doctors who've concurred. I also got sick within a matter of a month or two, and my first disease was neurological. Then, over the next months, the depression and anxiety came. Once you have that, they'll blame anything on it. I also have trouble with energy like you're describing. It was diagnosed over time as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and Fibromyalgia. There are also periods where I can't even sit up at the computer, or the couch... and on a normal basis, I only leave my house a day or two per week because doing any more walking than what it takes just being indoors exhausts me too bad. So, you might also look into doctors who can do such a diagnosis... although there's really nothing they do for it. Best wishes, and good luck to you. I wish I could say something helps that kind of fatigue, but I haven't found it in anything. Brigite See what's free at AOL.com.
Guest guest
~ Bless You ! ! Saline implants can leak slowly, and without rupture ! ! ! It is the valve. The valves that have leaks have been known to have bi-directional flow problems, leaking fluids out as well as flowing in, making a nasty soup of who knows what inside of you. Very IMPORTANT to have your implants removed en bloc so that the fluids in the capsules dont get into your body cavity. Dont let anyone touch you unless they agree to do the proceedure that way, and they have lots of experience. I still have my last pair inside me. One is 1/3 smaller than the other. Both have grown from 36 C to way past 42 DD. I no longer wear a bra. They squash my heart and make it jump constantly. I have a pacemaker/defibrillator to control my heart. I am sure the implant closest to my heart just is way too heavy. I am also sure that they are full of fluid from irritation. One explant I had the doc did not explant and do it enbloc and I got so sick. I was sick to begin with cuz it was a silicone rupture, then to have the caps left behind about did me in. YOU do NOT want that. That is why I stress the enbloc proceedure, aslo with drain tubes. You will heal much better with drain tubes. I will pray this doctor knows his stuff and will get you in soon. Guest guest
, Salines can leak slowly . . . more of a seep than a rupture ., . as the envelope degrades. This allows body fluids to enter the implants, as well as contaminanted fluids to leak out. . . All the more important that your implants be removed "en bloc". There were some days were I wished I had one of those white foam like neck braces to wear to hold up my head!! I also always found myself leaning on my hand, using my hand to hold up the weight of my head. I didn't understand any of this and it freaked me out and made my anxiety sore. Take care and I pray you can have surgery soon so you can begin to reclaim your health. Again, you should look into getting one of those neck dounut things, it has helped me tremendously. Guest guest
I know that heart trouble can cause neck pain, and I would bet with implants in it irritates your heart, causing the pain in the neck, and when you are expanted, it eventually goes away. Sounds good anyway, I plan for my pain to go away when I am explanted. See what's free at AOL.com.

This is day 2 of being able to sit at the computer for a few minutes in a months time.I am greatful. I tell everyone I feel like my head well fall off my neck because it feels to heavy to carry. I thought I was the only one in the world that has ever felt this. Finally someone who understands such a crazy feeling. I hope on Friday the surgeon tells me he will do the surgery and my insurance will pay for it. I just want them out.I want to get healthy and happy again.spinkscl <spinkscl > wrote: I know EXACTLY how you feel!! He is doing x-rays next week to check for degeneration. What has helped is putting one of the 1/2 moon like dounuts (not sure if I am explaining it right) around my neck. Hang in there... keep posting.Lynn-- In , "pynerone" wrote:>> I went to see a surgeon on Wednesday about explant surgery. It was a > disaster. Guest guest
~ You are welcome. You are in my prayers ! Remember, no matter what the doctor says, you are NOT alone, and we are here for you in full support. Hopefully he will be a good listener, and a doctor with morals, and empathy, and skill. Hugs ! Guest guest
Rogene, I am so ready to get healthy again. I have hope for the future for the first time in over a year. I truely believed my life was over but it's now time to start a new chapter. A chapter of healing. I can't wait to walk around my yard without feeling like I will fall down. All of my plants have died this past year. 1000's of plants and flowers that I saved from landscaping jobs that would have been thrown away. This makes me the saddest, what a waste. I want to get my hands dirty and sweat like a pig. I may be able to save some of my plants if I heal in time. I have a new found hope.Rogene S <saxony01@...> wrote: , who wrote the other day was a dancer who reached the point where she was unable to do anything . . . She's back dancing, running two dance studios now. . . She's worked very hard to get there . . . but if she can do it, you can too. Hugs, Rogene Building a website is a piece of cake. Small Business gives you all the tools to get online.
