Hi Sussie,

I am so glad you are seeing a new doctor.

My medical oncologist (when I had cancer) does not have good bedside manners,

especially the first time you talk to him. It is different after he gets to

know the patient. He is the best and I would not trade him for any other

doctor. He lays it on the line, just like he sees it, but when he tells you

" I think you will be okay " , you can believe it. He never tells a patient

anything that he does not believe. He is kind, understanding and sincere. I

wish he could be my only doctor.

My family doctor is a lady. She is sweet, kind and understanding. In fact,

I've not had any doctor that I did not like. Having faith, trust and

confidence in your doctor means everything.

Sus

I don't understand any doctor who does not do a complete blood panel on a

diabetic at least twice a year if not every three months. The incompitant that

I was going to at least did that much.

It sounds to me like you are making a change for the good,

Thanks Carolyn,

My first and only blood test was a 6.7 and that is not real bad but I am

42 and anyone over 40 (or 30) should have those tests anyway. My brother

in law had a hernia and the before surgery testes showed a Triglycerides

of 700...He only needed to loose 20 lbs..

This new medial center has nutritionists and eye doctors and foot

doctors and endocrinologists all in the same building...

Dear Sus,

After having 4 doctors that really were bad! I

thought I'd found a good one. Last appointment we

were 10 minutes late because of the snow and the

receptionist said we were late and slammed the window.

Monday I went for my swollen glands. She barely

talked to me, just gave me antibiotics and pushed me

out of the room. Did nothing else!

The last 2 days I've had problems with my blood

sugar going up past 300, then I laid down, and both

times within 2 hours it was down in the 60's. I'm

wondering if it was the antibiotics.

You aren't being too picky. You should be asking these questions and so

should your doctor. Good luck with the new one.

Hi Sus,

No, I don't believe you are expecting too much. I just love my Dr. He's

compassionate and Godly (which is important to me). He keeps up with all the

latest literature and studies and is always eager to share what he has learned

with me (what is pertinent to my case). He's a cheerleader when I'm down. He's

probably errs on the conservative side and orders a battery of labs every 6

months or so. Of course she should ask to see your BS Log so he can see how

you're doing. Good Luck with your new Dr. Let us know how it goes. Chris

test? Did your doctor ask you about food or your blood sugar numbers? Am

I being way too picky to expect this?

Hi Sussie,

It would be a good idea to have a record of your readings, what time they

were taken, what and how much you eat and exercise. I know this is a lot but

once your doctor sees this, she will be able to tell you what you are doing

right and doing wrong. Also, start making a list of questions you have for

her. Having the list with you will make it so much easier.

I'm anxious to hear about your visit with her.

All my doctor talks to me abt is diabetes! She asks abt my blood sugars, my

eyes (i am currently having laser surgerys done-4 of them), my cholesterol,

my heart (i am involved in a 3 yr heart study for diabetics type 1 ), my

diet, etc. I e-mail her w/ test results & can call her any time I'd like. She

is, by far, the best diabetes-aware Dr I have had in 12 years of being

diabetic. She is firm , when she needs to be & very thorough. I am fortunate

to have found her & she practices 5 minutes from my house!
