I was reading the post from countrybride( I didn't get a name in the posting

I read I appoligize)

I am responding about needing a verticle incision for removal of fibroids?

My first thoughts was why would the doctor first recommend hysterectomy to a

patient who is 28 and had no children? This would be a red flag in my mind

that the doctor may not be comfortable doing myomectomys and prefers the

easier hystrectomy surgery! I was 31 with one child and was sent to a

specialist because my doctor was only capable of doing hysterectomy or drug

therapy!

I have had a myomectomy and my gynocologist suggested hysterectomy to my

husband while I was put out in the ER for hemmoraghing in 1995. My husband

said he did not think that I would be too happy waking up with a

hysterectomy,

I was then referred to a reproductive endocrinologist for a consult on my

options since I wanted children. Thank God! we had our son two years

later!!!!

I believe a verticle incision is not preferred for future child bearing,

please check with your doctor or get a second opinion especially if you even

think you want children in the future.

You want a surgeon who will be gentle on your uterus and try to prevent

damaging the uterine wall so future pregnancy's will be possible!

I just panic when a doctor says hysterectomy first thing then chnages their

mind just because you told them you would like to have children possibly!

Well I just had to respond, I will go back to my corner now and deal with my

own fibroid situation.

Sincerely wishing the best and the best doctors for you

Patty
