Guest guest
Hello. I posted a couple weeks ago regarding my search for a new therapist. I finally chose one and saw her yesterday. It went ok, but I didn't get a lot out of it and I'm going through a really stressful time so I was hoping for more. I'm really bummed about starting over. My previous therapist knew me and my story and I could just talk to her about my current stresses and she would have a lot of valuable insight because she knew me and my history so well. I was trying to look at the bright side - it's good to get a fresh perspective, right? - but after the first visit I'm struggling. I don't have a choice but to work at it and hope I don't have to change again due to insurance, but I just don't know where to start with this new person. There's so much to tell. Does anyone have experience with this and some advice? Another issue is she does not have children, and I have a toddler. My previous therapist had three children and totally gave me great advice about raising my daughter and was comfortable with having her there if necessary. The new therapist seems clueless about how a toddler should act... I really need someone who understands this part of my life (as wonderful as it is it can be stressful and confusing). Any advice? Should I keep searching or give this one a chance?
