Guest guest
Hi Holly, Tomorrow will be my 4th RAI in 21 months and I _always_ take 25mcg x 2 of Cytomel for the first five days back on Synthroid (.15), 25mcg x1 a day for the next five days + the Synthroid, and 1/2 of a 25mcg of Cytomel x1 + Synthroid for the third five days, after my treatment, as Dr. Ain and my endocrinologist recommend. I have never had any type of adverse reaction, and it sure makes me feel a whole lot better very quickly. I do not have cardiac disease, so this makes it okay for me to use this wonderful additional help. Carolyn-NY (See below from Dr. Ain) Rapid relief of hypothyroidism is aided, in stable patients without cardiac disease, by supplemental liothyronine (Cytomel) administered as a tapering dose over two weeks. (Cytomel .25 twice daily for 5 days, then 12.5 twice daily for 5 days, then 12.5 once each morning for 5 days.)
Guest guest
Holly - My endo not only told me NOT to take cytomel and synthroid together. In addition, he instructed me to take HALF a normal synthroid dose for the first two weeks. This was after the RAI, which was my first after the TT in July. I had the strangest and most sudden symptoms of the whole thyca adventure after starting back on synthroid - hot flashes, insomnia, bad dreams. After two weeks on synthroid, I finially started to feel 'normal' again. Hang in there, you WILL be feeling better - it just takes time... Anybody ever heard of that happening before? > And if it does, then why are so many dr.'s prescribing them together? > > > >
