Guest guest
May, Thanks for the Happy 4th of July! It's still the evening of the 3rd here but I do have plans for tomorrow! I'll be going down to my brother's who lives about 25 minutes away from me. There's a parade in his town that goes right by his house. Every year we all gather in his front yard to watch the parade and then have an old fashioned cook out. We'll have burgers and franks, corn on the cob, boiled red bliss potatoes, salad and lots of watermelon. Then if the weather holds we'll go to the local big band concert and fireworks! It's always fun with lots of kids and music and noise. I didn't get to go last year as I was newly out of the hospital and unsure of getting out with the oxygen and all so I'm really looking forward to it this year! Guest guest
mary beth that sounds like a great day. dont know what red bliss potatos are but i love watermelon. i can relate to what you say about last year as i was diagnosed then too and thought my days were numbered. in fact i haven't really enjoyed any festive or celebrations for ages because of fatigue so the family celebrations we have this year have been especially good. have a great day may > > May, > Thanks for the Happy 4th of July! Guest guest
May, Red Bliss potatoes are just those little red skinned potatoes that are about the size of an apricot. Boiled and then buttered, salt and peppered....mmmmmm I know exactly how you feel about enjoying family celebrations. I find them more precious now than I ever did and I always loved them. There's nothing like a life threatening diagnosis to make you appreciate the little things is there? Beth in NY Fibrotic NSIP 06/06 "At the evening of life we shall be judged on our love." Guest guest
May, When I was growing up, our family always had ice cream and watermelon on the 4th of July. But, I didn't carry the tradition on with my family. My ancestors are from Scotland. I always dreamed of going there.
