Guest guest
Dear Traci, I am so happy that you are getting the support you need from your husband!! Tomorrow is a big day for you and I will be excited to hear about how it goes and what comes next. I know you are nervous... As the surgery becomes more of a reality it is indeed nerve racking!! Last week when I met with my mother to discuss the possibility of her co-signing a loan for me and travelling with me for my explant, I got butterflies in my stomach; a combination of fear and excitement!! You are quite ahead of me on the road to surgery, so I can imagine how you must feel! Thank goodness we had all of these great women leading the way for us!! Hugs! xo Katy:)TM McIntosh <prowlermeow@...> wrote: Ladies, Just checking in. I'm trying really hard to take control. Hubby is finally starting to come around and be supportive. Guest guest
Hi Traci, So happy to hear about your husband being supportive, boy does it help. My husband has finally come around. I believe it took me breaking down bawling on Friday to make him realize that I am very sick. He has been so helpful ever since which has made me feel a little bit better. Prayers for you in hopes the implant comes soon after your consult! Lynn > Ladies, > Just checking in. I'm trying really hard to take control. Guest guest
Hi Traci, Lynn, Deb (and any other ladies expecting explants), I set up an appointment for a consult for next Friday with Dr. Fredric Corbin in Beverly Hills, CA (I am in Santa Barbara). He claims to be a breast reconstruction expert, is board certified, has " ambassador " status, and no lawsuits or complaints that I can see against him. And he has a financial plan. Has anyone heard of him? I also got an estimate from Dr. Huang's office, too, about $11,000 (not including travel/lodging) at most to explant my salines and lift. Yikes! I also have calls in to a few other doctors on the list of CA doctors you gave me. The ball is rolling, ladies!!! I called Blue cross and they told me that they would pay 50-70% after deductible, if medically necessary. That would probably be just for the removal cost (not the lift). I told the customer service lady that I had level IV capsular contracture and had breast pain that is getting worse. I didn't go into the elevated ANA and other autoimune symptoms since they aren't thought to be connected to implants. : ( I also decided to have " The Talk " with my 16 year old daughter about my implants! She didn't know since I got them when she was five years old. I thought I would tell her eventually... She was very surprised since I'm into the natural look, raw food, vegan, exercise, blah blah blah. She asked a lot of questions, and told me to get them out as soon as possible! I explained to her what a big mistake I made by getting them and that I want her to learn from this, too. She was very mature. This is the sad part that I'm still crying about, she said that now she can stop hoping that her breasts will be bigger someday, like mine. My heart broke when I heard that. My having implants as a secret gave her the wrong information about what could be possible with her own breasts. This will haunt me... Ladies, this is intense work. But I am so excited about the many of us who are getting rid of these poisonous lies, for the sake of the people who love us and for ourselves. And , hang in there! I looked at the pix you look great! Hugs, > > Ladies, > > Just checking in. I'm trying really hard to take control. Hubby > is finally starting to come around and be supportive. Guest guest
, I am sure it would be no more than $6000 in Denver at Dr. Huang's office. I may email her tonight and ask why such high quotes are being given out. Guest guest
, -Oh my I just read your post and it sure touched a nerve. I have kids too and am just heartbroken over what this has done to them. We have explained being sick to them and of course after 6 surgeries in two and half years they are well aware that mom is not okay, but I hate to talk about it too much as it has taken over my life. Today I had the thought we have all had, how selfish it was for me to get implants and risk my life when there are other people affected. Not worth going there huh? Big hugs to you, I hope your surgery goes well. Love Nan -- In , Lynda <coss@...> wrote: > > , > > I am sure it would be no more than $6000 in Denver at Dr. Huang's > office. Guest guest
Oh - what a touching story. You did the right thing and I am sure it must have been so difficult. What a sweet, caring daughter you have. Thanks for sharing your story. I have not heard of Dr. Corbin. Make sure he is taking the capsules too. Are your implants above or below the muscle? Mine were implanted about 8 years ago through my belly button. Mine are above the muscle. Dr. Huang's office also quoted me around $10,000 but once I had my consult and she saw my breasts (I do need to post a photo) she decided I wouldn't need a lift. My explant is going to cost around $6,000. I also have the autoimmune issues. My ANA is 1:320 speckled right now, in other words way to high. My immune system is attacking my body, especially my thyroid. It is so tough but I was so lucky to find this group. I am a mystery to my docotrs. They can't figure out why I don't have Lupus, RA, etc. but my symptoms mimic all of these disorders. Not fun! The worst thing right now is that I am less than two weeks pre-op (that is a good thing) and I can't take any anti-inflammatories per pre-op instructions. So I am dealing with the constant inflammatory flare ups without meds. Oh how I ache. Anyhow, welcome again! Keep researching and you'll find the doctor who works best for you. There is a list located in the files of doctors who the wonderful ladies on this board recommend. Lynn > > > Ladies, > > > Just checking in. Guest guest
Hi Lynn, Mine are above the muscle and I've had them for 11 years. The autoimune symptoms are really increasing lately for me and I can totally relate to the achiness. I am not taking anti-inflammatories either in case I can get my explant in the next few weeks, and I am so achy in my arms and legs and along my spine. No energy either. But I still have good days without too many symptoms. I have an appointment the doctor to talk about my elevated ANA. Not really sure yet what my blood test results are until I go in. I just want to get into surgery as soon as I can. Are you flying in to see Dr. Huang? What made you decide to go with her? Thanks for sharing. > > > > Ladies, > > > > Just checking in. Guest guest
Hi Lynda, I saw the message from Dr. Huang. Thank you so much for checking about it. The $11,000 included a lift. I am pretty sure I will need one! I have thin skin with little breast tissue and so pretty sure I will need a lift so I don't have the empty sock look. But the important thing is just to get them out at this point. My health is my main concern now so I am trying not to think too much about the aesthetics. I just hope that I am not too deformed! > > > > Ladies, > > > > Just checking in. I'm trying really hard to take control. > >Hubby > > > is finally starting to come around and be supportive. Guest guest
I am sorry to hear you are having the auto-immune issues as well, I can relate and it isn't easy. I actually live about 45 minutes north of Dr. Huang, so I was lucky. Dr. Huang didn't feel I needed the lift, I thought for sure I would. I can let you know how surgery goes - April 13th. Talk to you soon, Lynn > > > > > Ladies, > > > > > Just checking in. I'm trying really hard to take control. > > > Hubby > > > > is finally starting to come around and be supportive. Guest guest
, Dr. Huang has completed many explants and she has a book of photos she'll share with you at consult. Her results are wonderful!! She does beautiful work. I thought that I'd need the lift for sure, without a doubt. She said I didn't. She is injecting fat from other parts of my body to help fluff. I was happy that I didn't need the lift due to the extra recovery and more scars. I scar horribly and so I was nervous to have the extra cuts needed with the lift. Either way, her work speaks for itself. Lynn > > > > > Ladies, > > > > > Just checking in. Guest guest
Hi Nan, Hindsite sure is 20/20. Of course we never intended to hurt anyone, especially not our families (nor ourselves). Lots of mixed messages about implant safety, especially for saline. Not to mention all the messages in our culture to look perfect... Nan, let't try not to beat ourselves up anymore. It isn't good for our health and we've paid for our mistakes a hundred times over through the pain we've suffered! Our families now just want us to forgive ourselves so that we can increase our chances of getting better. God is merciful and loving and forgives us, let's forgive ourselves. Hugs and prayers, > > > > > Ladies, > > > > > Just checking in. I'm trying really hard to take control. > > >Hubby > > > > is finally starting to come around and be supportive. Guest guest
Lynn, Yes, most of our women have to fly somewhere to get a really good doctor. I am so happy for women who live close enough to drive to where they need to go, as flying just adds $$$ to the cost. Most women are scrambling to get the $$ they need for explant. Guest guest
Hi Traci, It took my husband a while to come around as well - the way I explained it was that he was my brick wall when I needed him to be my rock. I'm glad you're getting closer to having the implants removed. Getting explanted was the best thing I've ever done and I never regretted it. I love my natural shape. Today I was trying on shirts and a sweet woman who was probably my mother's age was helping me look for a smaller shirt, and she said the one I had wouldn't fit me in the " boobies " - ha ha!! That might have actually bothered me once, but now I just laugh it off. Actually something else happened today, too - I went to my counselor and she asked how I've been feeling health-wise, and if I was still sure it was the implants that made me sick. I told her I have mostly good days with some occasional bad ones, and that I am certain it was the implants. She asked permission to give my number to a patient with the same problems and I said absolutely. Sis > > Ladies, > Just checking in. I'm trying really hard to take control. Guest guest
Gretchen, I think your body would have been sensitive to implants no matter who put them in. Guest guest
My daughter told me just the other day that she and my son learned things that made them much stronger by going through all that with me, and she was greatful for the lessons. It is important that you have lots of love and support during this time. I am sorry that you have to go through this surgery, but the implants must come out. We all wish you the very best and we will be here for you. Have you contacted Dr. Blais regarding your explant? I have not been able to speak to him, and I miss his advice. I have two ladies here who are looking for good plastic surgeons. Guest guest
I am doing better Traci, Thanks for asking.... I have been taking a breather over here and trying to focus on getting well... Really focusing on relaxing techniques, positive attitude, breathing deep, spiritual medicine (prayer) and no stress.... It seems to really help when one does not have stress..... If stressed I get wiped out..... Thanks for asking.... God Bless, ~See what's free at AOL.com.
