Here is a quote for you from Bunzel, 1967, ANTI POLITICS IN AMERICA,

p. 7 : " There is no conflict in a totalitarian society because conflict is

looked upon as a form of illness. " When the drug warriors say that

" addiction " can only be cured by getting rid of the " drug culture " of the

lower classes, they are 100% serious. They see anyone who opposes them,

who refuses to be " powerless, " as " sick, " and as in need of " treatment. "

Many, many of our rich and famous, and of our comfortable middle classes,

have decided that they had better get on the bandwagon. So, they rush into

" treatment, " and pledge loyalty to the emergent fascist power block. Think

" Betty Ford Center, " but also all the dishonest, careerist little drug

counselors, who have decided to push the line in hopes of making a buck.

The same type of people rushed to join the Nazi Party in the early 30s, and

for the same reasons.
