Deb,

No, surrogacy is not really legal, but it goes on. You see it is not as yet an

issue in Cyprus. I hope I don't become the first to make it one either!! I think

it is not fair to reduce your chance by allowing only a relative to do it

because you may be the youngest of the family and nobody available. Once the

baby is born, it is not recognised as ours I'm afraid but will have to adopt our

own child. I know it sounds stupid but that is how it has to be done. (The least

of my problems really. What is a piece of paper when you know and can have blood

tests to prove whose baby it is). I haven't as yet been able to find a lady who

has undergone this in Cyprus, because this is such a private matter and not one

to be discussed openly. So I am stuck really. If I find a surrogate, I will have

to pay for all her expenses. This is true because otherwise who would do it if

they had to pay themselves?? We don't have medical insurance here in Cyprus.

What are your plans about surrogacy? Any updates on your surgery you had in US?

It is almost a month since your surgery right???

Poly,

You asked what my plans are with surrogacy - well, my sister-in-law is

trying to get pregnant to have her 2nd and last child. She has offered

(generously) to be a surrogate to my husband and my fertilized egg after

she has her 2nd child. Of course we aren't sure when this will be -

depending on her own pregnancy, and then on whether or not the procedure

will work. I'm so anxious to do this, but trying to " chill " and not think

too much about it.

As for my surgery from the US. Well, unfortunately it's looking pretty

hopeless for me. After being on the mega-hormones for a month, I still did

not get any period and my ultrasound still showed wafer-thin endometrium

(maybe 3mm). My dr. offered to do the HSG to see if the lining is still

separated and to see if my one fallopian tube is still open - but at this

point, I really don't know if it's worth doing. My lining is so thin that

it wouldn't really matter if my uterus is open or not, I still wouldn't be

able to get pregnant. I am going to take a few months off of dealing with

all of this before I mentally go nutso. I'm not sure how much further I'm

going to take things. I want more children so badly and I wish so much

that it could happen NOW, but I just need to be patient. I've been reading

alot on adoption as well. My husband isn't as receptive about this idea as

I am though - not yet. He is willing to consider it and to read about it,

so that's a start. We'll see where things go.?!

I really wish the rest of you better success and hopefully lots of

pregnancies!!!

Deb,

I'm so sorry to hear that your surgery in US didn't change much. Take a rest as

you say and you will be able to think more clearly about what is best for you

and your husband to do.

Are you only on the hormones for a month? Doesn't your doctor recommend that you

stay on them for another month or so? I know what you mean about going nuts.

This problem really does drive us crazy.I've been thinking lately how unlucky

I've been with all this. I can't believe how much this has changed my life.

I think it was you who asked your doctor about Dr Magos in UK and he recommended

him. Is it possible to ask him if he has an email address and if he can possibly

give it to you?. I'd like to get in touch with him before I actually go there.

I'd also like to discuss Interceed with him. See if he has heard about it and

what he thinks about it. You know those sort of questions. After all, he is the

one who will be doing my surgery and I'd like to get to know him personally, not

just be sent as another patient, if you know what I mean. Can you please ask

him, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

Take care,

Poly

Hi Janet, do you have other fertility problems other than the ashermans?

There are so many members now that I can't keep track, I ask because I just

had my 5th surgery and it looks like this one was effective, I don't know

for sure yet but I just had my first real period in 7 years so I'm very

optimistic, and I had the same surgery that you are going to have, I had the

balloon in for a week also, and I took mega doses of estrogen and then

progesterone for a month, don't give up hope just yet, you never know!! Good

luck with your upcoming surgery!!

It is true that this group knows more about AS then any doctor i have

ever seen. In fact the doctor that told me i had As was indeed a

RE. He also told me that if i did not want any more children that i

did not have to have surgery to correct this. Is This Correct? I did

not have any insurance so that is way i never had any surgery to

correct AS. I have learned more from this group then any doctor that

i have seen.
