I started exercise and release on those and I could feel it as it released and relaxed the hard scar and it became soft and released spasm. During my hysterectomy, they tacked my muscles and I could tell there were scarring in the areas i had spasm. I had that ledge where the fat fell over the tightened scar tissue and looked horrible. After sessions of releasing the scarring, the scar is flat and soft. I used a remote control to push into the hardened tissue to hold for ninety seconds, then release and then do reps of that. It feels great to get out of spasm and relax. I laugh that the remote control is used for something besides changing channels. Ours is shaped just right to push into the piriformis muscle that goes into spasm in my hip so I use it there. I also use a tennis ball and roll pressure against it until the spasms release. You can read up on the exercises but please make sure a physical therapist trained in these techniques checks you out. I am not a thin person and it still helps me to strengthen my muscle I hope the exercises help you as much as they have me. I am now able to suck in my stomach as before I was not able to because the scar tissue blocked any type of strengthening exercises. Now I can suck my stomach tight against my backbone and feel it, This helps to strengthen my back and the linea alba muscles in my abdomen. I have learned a lot and if you have any questions, I can ask my therapists general ones to direct you to the appropriate care. My cut nerve endings were numb until they started growing back. My therapist works on my back but also will assist with other areas I have issues with. The website http://www.myofascial-release.com/pracwho.html lists the type of conditions that are helped by self -myofascial release. I have several other sites I have saved if you need other information, just contact me. Bennie
