I think that the reason UAE is usually not done on women wishing to keep their fertility is because they just don't know what effect it will have. Guest guest Posted September 6, 2001 Report Share Posted September 6, 2001 I suppose that the " miliatry " uterus is considered a " uterine anomoly " . I too have such an anomoly - but a different. It is a " double uterus " called Uterine Dydelphys. It was not discovered until five years ago (I'm 35 now) during an unrelated surgery. I hear Sophia Loren has the same condition! Now, both uteri are plagued with fibroids. I only became sympotmatic this summer. Like the " military " uterus, there is little space for a full-term pregnancy and a breech baby would be expected (no room to " move " ). Right now I'm not thinking of becoming pregnant - but am now learning what to do about my particular condition. You're not alone with an " odd " uterus. Re: Help! help!!!!!!!!!!! I had a submus. fibroid that was taking up 85% of my uterus removed last week through a myo and no probolems with the surgery. I too have a severly tipped uterus and it's even heart shaped inside. I've heard of uteruses (uterii?) in all sorts of positions, antiverted, retroverted, antiflexed, retroflexed - most people are antiverted and antiflexed. I'm retroverted and retroflexed but my doctor said that's not necessarily a bad thing - just different, like being a redhead. There are lots of other names for this condition, tipped and tilted are two. Maybe Military is another word for it I just haven't heard. You can also be leaning left or right and still be considered normal. If you picture yourself standing up with your head at 12:00 and your belly button at 3:00, a normal uterus is at 1:30 or so. I think that's a 45 degree angle so I don't see why you are abnormal. Unless he means 45 degrees in the opposite direction, at 10:30 or so, like me. I still don't see why that would make it more difficult to do a myomectomy on. My myomectomy took less than an hour and my doctor never indicated that the position of my uterus would be a problem. Also, I've read in lots of places that myomectomy is no more risky than hysterectomy. I think your doctor just doesn't want to do one. You can get phone consultations with them for 15.00 and and they can recommend surgeons with good reps. Worth a try. GET A SECOND OPINION by all means!
