Guest guest
Excellent, Dede, and here is another from her source link. He says "Therefore adrenal insufficiency (lack of adrenal cortical hormones) is a fat deficiency." Does this smack anyone upside the head? It makes me wonder how silicone in the body affects our fat metabolism, for one. The other thing that comes to mind is the number of people who I've heard say that their allergies disappear after they have done a series of Liver Flushes. Liver flushes, some of you may know, entail drinking a half cup of olive oil with a half cup of grapefruit juice. That's alot of fat. Allergies seem to be related to either the liver or the adrenals....anyway, if you are avoiding fats and eat low fat foods, you might want to re-consider! Healing from silicone induced illness is not the time to cut out fats! Patty Ask the Doctor About Getting Off Steroid Drugs By Tom Cowan, MD Question: I am taking prednisone for a health condition but do not like the side effects. What do you think about taking adrenal cortex extract instead and which brand do you recommend? Answer: Let me widen your question a bit to make it more general for our readers. That is, what is the best approach to weaning one's self from the long-term use of prednisone and other steroid drugs? Interestingly, about 10-20 percent of the new patients who come to see me have this very concern. These can be people with a wide variety of complaints from asthma (steroid inhalers), rheumatoid arthritis (often maintained on long-term prednisone), colitis (usually they are using cortisone enemas), skin rashes (usually long-term topical cortisone preparations), polymyalgia rheumatica, lupus, many kidney diseases, and so on. The initial reaction of these patients to the use of these medicines was nothing short of miraculous--pains vanish, bloody diarrhea clears up, and difficult skin problems melt away. Unfortunately, for most people this is the classic Faustian bargain. For within a short time, not only do the original symptoms return, necessitating higher doses, but the side effects of cortisone begin to show up. The side effects of cortisone, prednisone, and similar drugs are legendary. They include diabetes, osteoporosis, edema of the face, mood swings, stomach ulcers and, very importantly, adrenal suppression. In other words, your own adrenal glands shut off their production of these valuable hormones. Why not, since they essentially have been "told" by the prednisone that the adrenals are no longer needed. This bargain, then, becomes a nightmare as the effectiveness of the drugs wears off, side effects become more serious and the patient is unable to stop taking the medication. Of all the tragic situations I have dealt with in my practice, this all-too-common occurrence stands at the top of the list. What are we to do? The first answer is to recognize that by definition, if a certain condition will improve with the use of cortisone, then somewhere in its etiology must be an adrenal weakness. That this fact is denied by the medical profession does not make it less true. Therefore, for any condition that is treated in normal medicine with steroid drugs like prednisone or cortisone we should instead be strengthening the adrenal glands. To do this, we refer to some basic physiology. First, we are dealing with the adrenal cortex, not the medulla (which makes adrenaline). The hormones that the adrenal cortex makes are all derived from our best friend--cholesterol. Yes, cholesterol is the precursor to all the valuable adrenal hormones that help us deal with stress, inflamation and trauma, and that help our body to heal. Therefore adrenal insufficiency (lack of adrenal cortical hormones) is a fat deficiency. So the first step is simple and logical: eat more fat, especially cholesterol-rich animal fat. One of these fats should be cod liver oil to supply vitamin A. The adrenal cortex cannot make adrenal hormones out of cholesterol without vitamin A. Second, adrenal cortical hormones that control inflammation and other metabolic events are in the class of chemicals called glucocorticoids; their primary function is to regulate sugar balance. You will make their job much much easier if you don't eat any simple sugar and limit your total daily carbohydrate consumption to 75 grams per day. (Read Life Without Bread by Wolfgang Lutz for more information on this.) Third, cut back on caffeine and caffeine-related substances (such as the bromine in tea) as much as possible. Caffeine works by stimulating the adrenal medulla to produce adrenaline. Then the adrenal cortex must work doubly hard to produce the "chill out" cortisoid hormones. Fourth, the two major nutrients the adrenal cortex needs to do its job are vitamin B6 and vitamin C. These should be obtained from food sources or whole food supplements. One good source of all three of these vital nutrients is raw milk, which is probably why raw milk fasts have successfully treated many cortisone-related illnesses. Drenamin from Standard Process Laboratories combines these nutrients along with the adrenal protomorphogen to help stimulate the rebuilding of the organ. The beginning dose is 3 tablets 3 times per day. With many patients, even with hard work on diet and supplements it is still difficult to wean off the prednisone, especially the last 2-5 mg. In these cases I do use an adrenal cortex extract from American Biologics For some, it is the only thing that works. Usually 2-3 drops per day is enough, but often we need to double this amount. I usually keep this going for 6 weeks after the prednisone has been stopped to avoid relapses. All the time during this treatment the diet and Standard Process supplements should continue. A final word. The adrenal gland is the processor of stress in our bodies. It is there to help us adapt. When we become exhausted by life, on a mental or physical level, our adrenal glands often fail to keep up, and illness ensues. I define stress as anything that forces us to live contrary to what our inner guide is telling us is right for us. I want to emphasize that we need to follow our inner guide--not our parents, not the church, not our culture, not government nor anyone or anything else. So many people with adrenal illnesses live a life of "should." To me, that is stress. In our comprehensive approach to illness this aspect of our health must be considered as vitally important. Guest guest
No, I am not taking Milk Thistle. I am introducing things very slowly and taking away things very slowly to be sure nothing hurts the progress. I saw my renal doc and I am in stage 2 chronic renal disease, no longer in the acute stage where it comes and goes. If I am careful, I can keep it from progressing. From a kidney standpoint she said I can have the implants out. She is gonna do some testing on me, blood and 24 hr urine aldosterone and renin, and a 24 hour metanephrines. I have to be off of all my medications and certain foods before I do the test. I had just lowered my coreg to the 3.125 level, so I am letting my heart adjust, then I will stop everything for a week and do the tests. I emailed my PS and asked her if she would be willing to do my surgery. Told her i had an ok from my renal doc and my cardio wants it done. I sent it to her yesterday, and havent heard back yet, so.........we will see. I will let you know if I hear anything from her. Guest guest
I want to ask you, When they did my colonoscopy and endoscope end of January, they took pics, i have a copy of everything, I even went and picked up a copy of the path so I could see for my own eyes that they got all the cancer out, and they did ! ! but anyway, in my stomach was white patchy stuff, i wonder if they took the bx from there or where, they tested for h pyl and I was negative, but I think the white is...........yep, candida... i need to go in to see my int med doc for some things, but after the renal stuff and after I see if Doc will remove these implants. I also have a mouth full of mercury. Sad but true. Implants first, teeth next. I am on such a limited budget, and I owe mountains of medical bills, disability costs 93 a month plus 20 percent of everything and 100 percent on perscs. cuz I have no persc coverage. Anyway, it will all get worked out. Baby and safe steps. Love DedeSee what's free at AOL.com.
Guest guest
Patty ~ I am gonna look it up and study all about it. I am not gonna do that much detox without asking my kidney and heart docs. I do have spots on my liver, silicone or fungus???? yuk I just wrote my PS and asked her if she would consider doing my surgery yet. I am praying she says yes. I am thinking that I will do the detoxing after surgery. I am eating great , and doing the kefir and maintaining for the moment. The renal doc put me on another diuretic because my kidney function is low. I told her they make me sick but she said I need one because of my low function. I am on a thiazide and not a loop diuretic. She is testing my aldosterone/renin and metanephrines 24 hr urine and blood. Gonna ck on my sodium pump. She said my edema is from my kidneys.........I think that is part and candida is part. Anyway, I am collecting everything and learning all I can so I am ready and have everything in place when the time comes. Thank you for all your help, I am building quite a library of information. Guest guest
Yes, I hear alot of kidney stuff between all the gals. I am not sure what caused all my stuff that started 19 mos ago. They say it is the lupus, now after learning all from this site, I suspect the candida caused the thyroid and adrenal and all that caused the heart kidney lung and liver problems. I had just been in the AZ desert for 9 mos where there was alot of cactus with cactus fungus, and I bet I got valley fever which is what gave me the double pneumonia and made everything else go, s well as blew the candida wide open . I did have a heart attack though 10 previous to it all going out. I just didnt know that is what it was at the time, it was my jaw. I woke up in the night, as I often do, and went to the potty and on the way it felt like someone hit me across the face with a baseball bat, knocked me to the floor. I was very groggy and shocked ! I thought my jaw dislocated......I was out of it for a week. stayed on the couch and a friend was with me. I think I have had the candida ongoing for a long time systemically........and probably since the early 90's because I never got any better, only slowly worse over the years til it all went out. I still think I will get tons better. Thank you for all your help ~ Hugs DSee what's free at AOL.com.
Guest guest
Dede, I've done a number of liver/gall bladder detox with olive oil and grapefruit juice . . .and, yes, I got diarrhea, and cramps, and spasms . . . but, when all the gunk is out, I felt soooooo much better! Are you taking Milk Thistle? . . . It detoxes the liver more slowly and gently. Rogene
Guest guest
Dede, All these deficiencies may tie back to a systemic fungal problem. . Guest guest
Dede, Look up liver flush on curezone.com. You'll find several versions of liver flushes, but the one that I have used is the 1/2 cup olive oil and 1/2 cup grapefruit juice. It is an intensive therapy, used to flush out gallstones and avoid gallbladder surgery. I have done this maybe 3-4 timse, and it's brutal! You have to fast or eat a NO FAT breakfast...no food after 2 pm. Then at 6 and 8 PM you take some epsom salts, drink the liver flush concoction at 10PM and immediately lay down and go to sleep. In the morning you will poop out all of the stones, and you drink two more doses of epsom salts. Do NOT do this without looking up the protocol first! I felt better afterwards, but I think it takes a series of these to get the full benefit. Curezone.com has some awesome testimonies. Guest guest
Kenda, That is great...so glad to hear that you've found your answer...at least one of them. I am still patiently waiting for my test results from Canary club on my cortisol levels. However, I did take some Isocort yesterday and this morning, due to my flu or whatever it was. I went downhill quickly yesterday, around 11 AM I noticed that heavy, leaden feeling hitting me and I spent the whole day on the couch, hardly able to get up. I thought the Isocort might help. I don't know if that was the best thing to do, as I would assume that illness raises the cortisol rather than lowers it, but I figured my adrenals needed help! I am feeling much better today, and that leaden feeling is gone, though I still feel a bit punky. I never get sick, so this just shocked me. So what does your diet look like now? How many carbs did you add, in terms of percentages? I am wondering if I need more protein myself, since we don't eat meat very often. PattyKenda Skaggs <lovesgoldens@...> wrote: I’m the same way. We have low sodium and have to tinkle all the time!Kenda Dede, I hope you are able to schedule your implant removal very soon! Kidney involvement in our illness seems very common as well. I never had any kidney issues in my life until I got implants. Then I had several emergency room visits for kidney infections, had such urgency to go at times that I almost pee'd my pants (thank God that cleared up) but I still suffer from frequent urination. It drives me crazy. Amazing how much we learn through this nightmare, isn't it! PattyDGRAHAMAAOL (DOT) COM wrote: Patty ~ I am gonna look it up and study all about it. I print everything. I have learned so much from you and all the ladies here. Hugs ~ Dede See what's free at AOL.com <http://www.aol.com/?ncid=AOLAOF00020000000503> . Expecting? Guest guest
Rogene, How long do the cramps and stuff last? Guest guest
Thanks Kenda, For some reason, cleansing like this and fasting does make me nervous. My system is so senstive I would likely " stir something up " > >> > > >> > Dede, > >> > > >> > I've done a number of liver/gall bladder detox with olive oil and > > grapefruit juice . . .and, yes, I got diarrhea, and cramps, and > > spasms . . . but, when all the gunk is out, I felt soooooo much better! > >> > > >> > Are you taking Milk Thistle? . . . Guest guest
I think it's very important to listen to that "inner voice" regarding what we should, or should not, do . . . No one should do something that goes against their instinctive sense of what is good for them . . . The sense of what we need may change from time to time as ones needs change . . . but it's still a valid rule. Guest guest
, For me, it was about 24 hours of discomfort . . . very uncomfortable! I hesitate to recommend it to anyone . . . I think it was Dede who asked initially. ly, I don't think she's well enough to do it. It was one of the first detox programs I worked. At the time, I was participating in a HBOT study for implanted women. . . There was another implant woman enrolled who told me about a liver detox program using OrthPhos (see www.herbfinders.com) . . .With the knowledge of the doctor supervising the study, both of us did a round of detoxing with OrthoPhos. . . Her only comment was that we should document how we felt. She neither recommended, or discouraged, the flush. Personally, I felt as though the clouds moved away and the sun came out after doing the gall bladder/liver flush. . . Where I could hardly stay awake enough to read during the HBOT treatment, I was wide awake and alert following the flush. As I understand it, the OrthoPhos program was developed by a doctor who refused to accept conventional treatment for his liver cancer. He survived the cancer without treatment with his program.
