Guest guest
>>MELODY WROTE>>I did Meals on Wheels when we lived in MN - I loved it! How do you (or did you) like doing the Meals on Wheels? I delivered meals for almost 3 years, twice a week. Finally had to stop because volunteering was costing me alot of $ and miles on my van. At the same time that I was delivering meals, I was mentoring 3rd graders in reading. I enjoyed the senior citizens much more than the kids! LOL When I first started delivering meals, the director of the senior center told me that it should only take 30 minutes to deliver all of them. It took me an hour and a half! I REALLY like to talk and since many of the seniors were lonely shut-ins, so did they. When I first started, there were actually seniors who called the center complaining because I was running late. Then they got to know me and were calling to request me. That's when I picked up the second delivery day. It was really hard to quit, because I was so attached to many of them. I finally quit after several of my favorites were moved into nursing homes or passed away. Janet
Guest guest
That's great! I used to volunteer at 's Kitchen in Channelview, Texas. We would work like 5 days a week. We would ride our bikes like 30 minutes and serve lunch for the homeless. It was fun and it felt good. I did that while I was in middle school. I should do something like that again because, like I said, it felt great. It was at a Catholic church. -----Original Message-----From: Hamilton & Feeser Sent: Wednesday, March 03, 2004 8:42 PMTo: TexasTOPS Subject: Re: Janet/ Daily Question #4 >>MELODY WROTE>>I did Meals on Wheels when we lived in MN - I loved it! Guest guest
ya know ! That's a great idea - the busier you are the better you behave yourself....at least that's my motto - I tend to stay so busy that I barely have time to think, much less spend any time in the kitchen. I keep telling myself that it just HAS to show up on the scale eventually LOL Melody Moris, Leader TOPS #Tx1454, Pleasanton http://www.texastops.org -----Original Message-----From: Jr That's great!
