Guest guest
I found out yesterday I am in stage 5 of adrenal fatique. No surprise really since this is the way I have felt the last few months and since it often goes along with Hypothyroidism. Has anyone else been diagnosed with this and if so, did you ever get your adrenals back in shape.? Dr. is putting me on physiological doses of hydrocortisone....20 mgs thru out the day. She did this instead of licorice and natural things because my cortisol is almost zero at 4:00 in the afternoon. All this time I spent " exercising " , I was doing my damage than good, since exercise depletes cortisol reserves. It also explains the " water retention " , bloated feeling, pains in joints....etc. I am really hoping this is the last thing I need to correct! If our bodies become so stressed due to implants that we end up with thyroid problems, chances are it will lead to adrenal gland problems. And ladies, my doctor did not find this. I did. I contacted a lab thru a website to do the saliva testing. It was the same lab my own doctor used over 2 years ago...so it is a valid lab. Lesson I learned: Don't expect our doctors to find out what is wrong with us. We have to be proactive diligent and " analyst " about our health especially after implants. Guest guest
, What a great lesson for us. I am glad you were proactive in getting this checked out! There are so many women that feel worse after exercising, and the adrenal fatigue makes alot of sense. We have had some women who CAN exercise during their healing process, but it shows that we are all different, and are at different stages of degenerative disease processes. This also shows that you can continue to experience slow decline, even after explant and detoxing! I found that out with my Hashimoto's diagnosis 4 years post explant...I thought I was healing--AND I WAS--but my body was suffering from that autoimmune attack until it finally showed up on tests. So...we have to keep watching and taking care of ourselves, not trusting the doctor to find everything that is wrong with us, because they just don't always know! , what was the link for the lab you used? I am sure we must have it in the links section, but could you let us know? Thanks! How did you get the hydrocortisone? Was it prescription only? Was your doctor open to receiving the labs you ordered on your own? Some doctors get so offended when you bring in your own stuff. It sounds like you have a good doctor. As I read somewhere, the way to tell a good doctor from a poor doctor is the way they treat the information you bring to the patient-doctor consultation. A good doctor listens with respect and engages in dialogue. A poor doctor does not. She sounds good! So glad you found some answers. Let us know how the hydrocortisone helps. I am very interested in this area of treatment. Pattysedwards41255 <sedwards41255@...> wrote: I found out yesterday I am in stage 5 of adrenal fatique. Guest guest
Patty, The link to get the saliva test performed is www.canaryclub.org You have to join. They send you an email and you activate the link. Once this is done, there are two labs in the United States that will do these test for you without your doctor having to order it. You order the test and it arrives in 2 days (very quick). You pay them nothing until you are ready to send the complete test back to them. Point is, ordering the test and getting it costs you nothing. The lab I chose was DiagnosTechs since I was already familiar with it. My doctor called in the prescription for hydrocortisone. BUT...I have sources for both Armour and Cortef(hydorcortisone) where I can purchase without my doctor prescribing. I have already purchased some Armour this way and it is on its' way. I still want to be under the care of my own doctor....but want my own " stash " in case something happens and I need to change doctors or she goes out of business...etc. If anyone wants those sources, please email me privately as I have given my word to guard those sources. I have not yet used the sources for the hydrocortisone but plan too. At my appointment over a week ago, I told my doctor I ordered and completed this test and hoped it would be o.k. with her. She said we could use it. I don't know that she could have said anything else...as it was the same lab she used for my last cortisol over two years ago. So..she did accept the results. I just wish she had told me she thought I needed to do it. As it was, it probably went on longer than necessary which is why I agree with you that we have to do what we can to find out either why we continue to decline or do not feel 100%. But part of that is my fault. I wanted to get off the " doctor " treadmill for a while after my explant. I have only been on the hydrocortisone for a day and I am still taking my Armour (which I started March 9th). She started me on 20 mg a day (10-5-5 dosing). BUT as I understand it, if you are on high doses of Armour it is best to start on hydrocortisone slowly with 2.5 mgs for 3 to 4 days and adding slow doses until you reach the twenty. The reason for this is you may get a thyroid dump response. Slow adrenals usually means lots of unused thyroid hormone in the blood...meaning it can't get into the cells. Dosing with hyrdrocortisone sets up a situation where LOTS of thyroid hormone gets into the cells all at one time. IF you have been on moderate to high doses of Armour or another thyroid replacement hormone. Hope this helps Patty, > I found out yesterday I am in stage 5 of adrenal fatique. Guest guest
, I noticed that DiagnosTechs also does the thyroid testing and reproductive hormone testing as well with the home kit that you order. I see that the adrenal tests are saliva....what about the others? Do you have to go in to get a blood draw? What happens from there? Guest guest
Patty, The kit comes with 6 vials. You fill four 3/4 qtrs full with saliva for the adrenal testing. From two of those four vials (I think it was noon and afternoon vials but I can't remember), you take 1/4 of the saliva in each and pour it into each of two hormonal vials. So...the hormonal testing is also saliva testing and the saliva comes from what you collect from the adrenal vials. Put another way, Spit in four vials and pour over into two other vials for a total of six vials. You need to refrigerate the saliva vials as you fill them. The next day, put everything back in the little box with the form and your payment and send it out priority or express mail....whatever gets it there the fastest. From Virginia, I sent it priority and it got there the next day. Important: when you order your test...they will send you a test code that you will need to use to look up the status during the next week or two. Write this down in a safe place otherwise you can't retrieve your results. You are able to retreive the results online. Pretty cool. It took a week for me to get my results from the time they received my package. They tell you to give them 21 days...but mine took only a week. Hope this helps. > > I found out yesterday I am in stage 5 of adrenal > fatique. Guest guest
I used the same place (canaryclub) to get tested also. Very easy, and quick. I also found out that I was in stage 7 adrenal fatigue, with Hashi's. I found this out after explant with Dr. Feng in June of 06. I order my own HC, and Armour and self-medicate, as I couldn't find a Doc to help me with it. I feel SO much better now, and am on 4.25 grains Armour. We have to be our own advocates, in our wellness sometimes. HTH, Re: Adrenal Fatique Terri,Go back a few posts as I have recently posted about this site See my replies to Patty. Guest guest
This steroid thing scares me even if it is supposed to be natural to the body. I can tell you right now...ANYBODY will feel better on this stuff because that's what they do...you feel like super woman, but is it really helping or hurting us? I'm not trying to disagree, but it concerns me. Tricia Trish <glory2glory1401@...> wrote: Thanks , That is awesome that you were able to help yourself. I wish you had shared earlier! Guest guest
Perfectly understandable. No one is suggesting high doses of this stuff. In fact, the doses are physiological doses...to replace the levels your body would produce. No higher. I do not feel like superwoman...but I feel much better after one day..more like me.....than the person I have felt like for the last for 3 years. I also look more like me. The color is back in my eyes, my eyes are not dry, my skin is not as dry, mentally I have more clarity, my kidneys are functioning better...all more like before I got sick. Each one of us will have to make the decision they feel is in their best interests. For myself, I wish I had known about this before explant. It would have been interesting to have treated it first....as a test for the implants in some of us that had implants in for a long time. If I had not gotten better...then I could say the adrenal deficiency is related to implants. Right now...all I can really do is quess. > > > > > > I found out yesterday I am in stage 5 of adrenal fatique. Guest guest
Well, I guess the most important thing here is that you are able to measure your levels every so often to make sure you are not getting too much and that everything is in check. I would love to get my mental clarity back along with all of the other things you have mentioned! However, I will still try to do it naturally the best way I can first. Thanks for the info though. sedwards41255 <sedwards41255@...> wrote: Perfectly understandable. No one is suggesting high doses of this stuff. Guest guest
, I am glad that you found out the reason you were so sick feeling and that you feel 100% better now. Guest guest
It's always been amazing to me when I hear of women who come out of explant and say that their brain fog is gone. I think Terri said that, and Kathy did as well. I was always jealous of that! LOL I couldn't imagine having the brain fog disappear that fast. I struggled with that nasty brain fog for 4 years. I wonder if the HC would have made a difference for me in that regard. It sounds like my adrenals took a very long time to recover on their own, while maybe some other women did not have such drastic adrenal exhaustion. To be sure, I think this is an area that deserves more of our attention. And that is what this group is about...finding answers that will help us all! Thanks ! Guest guest
Patty, My brain fog was intially gone too...after surgery. But it started coming back. Makes me wonder if they put solumedrol in the IV solution during explant surgeries. This would do it. > > > > > > > > I found out yesterday I am in stage 5 of adrenal fatique.
