Guest guest
Nan, I just want to add that your pm cortisol may be normal but it doesn't mean your levels are normal thru out the day. My pm level was normal. All the others were flat. So what good does it do us to have " normal " midnight levels when we are going to sleep? You need your cortisol to be normal in the a.m. and thru the day too...to feel like you some energy. !! Many articles I have read indicate that only taking the pm cortisol level for testing is a mistake. Because it doesn't tell the whole story. And if we don't have enough throid and cortisol in us while we are sleeping, our body can't repair itself while we sleep....which is the point of sleeping. Sleeping is a restorative, repair process. Without adequate levels of thyroid and cortisol (and I am sure other thing as well) , our bodies don't have the " energy " to repair. Waking up tired is a hallmark of adrenal fatigue. Do you experience this? I certainly did. y > yes that pretty much describes what happened with me and Dr Kolb has a > name for it (the thyroid adrenal connection) but for some reason mine > has not shown up on the trad testing. Guest guest
, I have to take ambien to sleep at all, my body does not go into deep sleep at all. I don't know if this from having low msh or what. I know what you mean but I just don't know what to do at this point. Is there anything good that is not prescription for adrenal strength? Guest guest
-Thanks Patty, if you heard the ages of my children you would flip, rest and less stress is no where in my future! I try, I am not working anymore, and I avoid a lot of things because there is too much stress. I am better than I was, so you are right, there is progress. Is there something to take that is not prescription that is good for adrenals? I am on DHEA but went off the adrenal support because I just did not think it was doing anything and I am on way too many things, all supplements and diflucan. Guest guest
Hey Nan, I would probably flip alright....children are stressful no matter what ages they are! I had 4...My youngest son was 3 years old when I got sick, and I had a 5 year old, an 11 year old and a 17 year old. (3 boys and one girl.) On top of that my husband quit his job to open his own business in another state (he was gone), we had NO income, I was alone at home with my 4 kids and trying to sell a house, and worked nights as a waitress so I had a little cash. The worst was trying to sell the house with little kids around. I'd get a call from the real estate agent to let me know the clients would be there in 15 minutes to look at the house! Have you ever tried to keep a house spotless to sell it with little kids around? As I look back on that time, I shake my head wondering how I ever got through it. I remember other stressful times....like when my 3 year old got bit by a dog in the face and I had to leave the other kids and rush him to the emergency room with those huge gashes bleeding and no one to hold and comfort him in the car! And then moving to another state....my husband was running the business so I had to empty out our home and complete the entire move myself with a U-Haul! (Please don't think my husband is a cad...he is not....he just had his own work to do.) Thank God for my 17 and my 11 year old boys. They were troopers. No wonder it took me so long to get better. I was under so much stress! Try to avoid it if you can. There are adrenal supportive supplements you can buy over the counter: Isocort--this is dried adrenal cortex and should be most helpful. http://www.pureprescriptions.com/products/product_view.asp?ProductsID=618 Vitamin C is huge...make sure you are getting ample Vitamin C in a buffered form. I take several thousand mg's a day. The herbs are: Licorice: http://www.femhealth.com/licoriceroot.html Ashwagandha: http://www.femhealth.com/ashwagandha.html Rhodiola Rosea: http://www.herbalremedies.com/arrootrhodin.html You might want to ask about her HC (hydrocorisone) use, and consider it as well. Guest guest
Thanks Patty, those stories are my life now as I have 5 and my oldest is almost 13. I know I am through the worst, so I will get better it is just going to take me longer, these darn lymph nodes! I am going to try ISOCORT, saw it at the health food store. Yes my thyroid has been very painful and when I am stressed it feels awful. Today I am having a good day and the swelling is better. Thanks again, Nan > > yes that pretty much describes what happened with me and > Dr Kolb has a > > name for it (the thyroid adrenal connection) but for some reason > mine > > has not shown up on the trad testing. Guest guest
Nan, You can try Isocort. This is what Patty used and is using and Kenda too. Isocort is freeze dried adrenal cortex from sheep. It has cortisol in it...and not anything else ...as we discovered on the STTM site. I bought some...and purchased mine on Amazon.com. If you do a web search for " Isocort " there are many places to purchase on the internet. One grain of Isocort has 2.45 mgs of cortisol. I asked my " alternative medicine " doctor today about Isocort and taking some of this while reducing the hydrocortisone and she said no. For some strange reason, she doesn't like adrenal glandulars....from sheep or pigs. That is why she also doesn't like Armour but she prescribed it for me. I just think she has a hang up about things coming from sheep and pigs. That is what she says anyway. > > > yes that pretty much describes what happened with me > and > > Dr Kolb has a > > > name for it (the thyroid adrenal connection) but for some reason > > mine > > > has not shown up on the trad testing.
