Guest guest
I don't know how (or where) to post pictures in our new Yahoo world here -- especially since I can't stand going to the new Groups place because of those awful ads, so I read our club via e-mail -- but I wanted to share my day at the Komen race with y'all. I've put links to the pictures in this message -- hope they work! My three daughters had signed up with me to do the Komen in SLC, which was plenty cool (it was their idea) -- but it turned out to be a big surprise for me! They put together a whole team of family and friends to celebrate my 14 years of survivorhood, and when I came down to the hotel lobby to meet my GIRLS and go out to dinner last night, this large group of people jumped up and yelled " surprise! " They had made a big sign signed by everybody on the team ( " Gams for Mams " was the name of it), and they'd made matching tie-dyed team shirts for everyone. Here's 3/4 of our team before the race -- my son and his wife didn't make it in time for pictures, but everybody pushing and carting babies was there. -- http://www.musenet.org/~moonbeam/KomenTeam1.jpg Here are some team members talking to my youngest daughter (she's the scrunch-faced one): http://www.musenet.org/~moonbeam/KomenRace3.jpg They also gave me 14 gorgeous pink roses, one for each year -- http://www.musenet.org/~moonbeam/Komen-roses.jpg -- and read this tribute written by my Jo (the strawberry blonde on the far left of the team photo) -- which made me quite blubbery: " We are all here tonight to celebrate the extraordinary strength of the human spirit, and the lengths that we will go and all that we will endure to reach the top of the highest mountain that dares to stand ominously in our way. " We all have this strength hidden inside of us, but not all of us will face a challenge that will make us dig down to the depths of our souls and fight with everything that we have just to get through another day. There is however someone among us tonight who had to do just that: our mom, . " Mom, when faced with your mountain, you dug your heels in and fought harder than any of us can ever know, but you did it. You pulled yourself up to the top of the rockiest cliff. You not only did it for yourself, but you did it for everyone that you loved, and everyone who loved you. " So, tonight it is our turn to say thank you. Thank you for fighting, for surviving and, most of all of showing each one of us what a human spirit is made of. You are a pillar of strength to all that know and love you. And so tonight we celebrate you and 14 years of living cancer free. We love you, and with you a happy Mothers Day. " I'm back home tonight but still walking about 2 feet off the ground. __________________________________________________
