Guest guest
Yikes, , I don't know why you would have thrown up! That's no fun! Yes, you can drink any of the kefir. It is good probiotics for the intestinal tract. Maybe you are allergic to milk? If you let the kefir ripen, the lactose will be broken down completely and it should be safe for anyone with lactose intolerance. I am not positive about the casein allergy. I'll have to ask some kefir experts about that. Hopefully you will be able to consume it, and your body was just not ready for it yet. Too soon after surgery or something? I would take it easy until you feel that your are well cleared out of drugs and whatever from the surgery and then try a small amount again. Hopefully you won't have the same trouble. I have a friend who had the same response to milk when she was a teen. She threw up and that was the last time she ate any dairy products. I gave her some kefir grains a few weeks ago...I need to call her and see how she did. She had some when she was at my house, and I didn't hear back from her that she had any trouble. Interesting though! I hope you are feeling better now! Patty <waltjenking > wrote: Yes, I'm curious about this too. Last night I made a mixture from the kefir grains(a little bit of garlic and curry...very yummy...my fiance even ate it!) and put it on crackers and I also drank a little of my kefir that I let overprocess...it was very sour(yellowy, watery) but we can drink any of it, right? Anyway, I threw up. I didn't eat anything before I ate and drank the kefir and I took pain medicine because my neck, shoulders and back were really hurting and burning. I'm not sure if I may be allergic to milk too. I usually drink soy that seems to work for me, but I'm really not sure what I should be drinking. How do I figure this out? I don't want to waste the over processed stuff that I have in my fridge...I wanted lots of grains to make my spread out of. I guess I will try to drink some today without taking medicine and see what happens??? I have another batch on my counter and will only let it sit 24 hours...the first batch was 48 hours. Thanks DGRAHAMAAOL (DOT) COM wrote: Patty ~ I know this sounds really stupid, but, I have to ask. The kefir, is that the juice and the grains are the curds? I have been putting the kefir grains in the refrig after letting them drain in a coffee filter, and there is no liquid with them. I drink 2 cups of the kefir with the curds in it a day, so I get both in my cup when I drink it, and chew it....LOL..... I do leave about 2 heaping tablespoons of the kefir grains in the kefir juice and add milk to it after I take out some grains and juice. I drink the juice though........tastey, lololol...not...but I love the energy I get. I dont usually have any energy. ever, so this kefir, no matter how it tastes to me, is good ! ! So, your refrig kefir is the one you drink? does it have juice and curds in it? or do you separate them? I am so sorry to make something complicated that isnt. I am dyslexic, can you tell..........and that alongside brain fog........what a combo ! ! and just how blonde can one get???? yes, I am a hydrogen peroxide blonde.......it is inexpensive ~! ! lolol...
