I'm not saying there still couldn't be a link. Who knows how many things

may end up being linked to fibroids, but for what it's worth, I never drink

diet soft drinks. I occasionally drink regular Coca-Cola, but if I want a

soft drink, I want the REAL THING : )

The only kind of tea I drink is green tea, and I never use sweetener. I

drink coffee sometimes, but use creamer only (no sweeteners). So, as far as

I know, I rarely if ever take in aspartame.

aspartame?

I don't know if studies have been done linking apartame and other

sweeteners with fibroids or not, but I know that diet plays a huge

role in all aspects.

My question is: How many ladies in this group with fibroids drink

(or did before changing their diet due to the fibroids) diet soft

drinks or use sweeteners in tea?

I know that I use the sweetener. I use it sparingly (3 packets per

gallon), but I do use it. Could there be a link?

Aspartane is actually toxic. It breaks down into substances that kill

brain cells and has been linked to brain tumors in mice. The brain is

one part of the control mechanism for hormone balance. Check out

these sites:

http://www.lafayettesbest.com/articles/Aspartane.htm

" If you are using ASPARTAME (NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc.) and

you suffer from fibromyalgia symptoms, spasms, shooting pains,

numbness in your legs, cramps, vertigo, dizziness, headaches,

tinnitus, joint pain, depression, anxiety attacks, slurred speech,

blurred vision, or memory loss-you probably have ASPARTAME DISEASE! "

The article goes on to talk about how many people are being diagnosed

with neuralogical disorders when in fact they have damage from

aspartane.

I never used aspartame or drank diet drinks. I think however they could be part

of the chemical

cornucopia of catalysts that might be implicated in us humans taking detours not

of our choosing....

Tish, you've come across one of the more persistent urban legends at the link

you've posted. This one has been around since at least 1998. If you'd like to

read up on it, check out http://www.snopes2.com/, one of the Urban Legend sites.

You can also find this on about.com's urban legend site,

http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/blasp.htm?terms=aspartame.

My general rule of thumb is to be suspicious of any suposedly scientific info I

get that contains multiple exclamation points, or asks me to FORWARD THIS TO

EVERYBODY YOU KNOW. Leonie
