I am utterly confused over what to do. I have searched everywhere for a solution to my large submucosal fibroid. I have spoken (e-spoken in some cases) to some doctors in the States, who firmly believe embolization may be a viable solution. The doctor I went to believes we should try a myomectomy first, preceded by three months of Lupron injections. I am afraid to proceed, however, because I've heard horror stories about Lupron, and I tend to react badly to medication in general. I am also fearful, because my doctor said that a myomectomy may not help with my cramping, and that is my main problem. I have always had severe cramping, but the last few months have been horrendous. I have been bleeding badly (yes, I'm taking iron supplements), but these last few months my bleeding has vastly increased and I have been having unbearable cramps. I take two 550 cc Anaprox pills every 6 hours, and still I am having pain. I've always been a trooper when it came to cramps, but this is devastating. This morning I simply couldn't function. I've had fibroids since I've been about 31 (I'm now 37), and this is the first time I simply couldn't get out of bed. Maybe it's a horrible day, but I feel like I just want the whole mess out of me - I think I'd get a hysterectomy this afternoon if I could! Has anyone had a myomectomy and still had bad cramping? I just want to find the best way for the pain to stop!!!! Hi, I'm sorry to hear you're having such a bad time. I can only speak from my experience with post-myo. cramping. I have NONE! I had an 11 cm. fibroid removed via abdominal myo 1 1/2 years ago and have been symptom-free since. I had horrible cramps, bleeding, clots, urinary urgency, bloating, backaches, PMS and irregular periods pre-myo and can say I haven't suffered ANY of these since my surgery. Each case is unique, I realize. My doc also recommended Lupron because HE wanted to do a hysterectomy. I politely refused and changed doctors. I ended up having a UAE that didn't work for my particular fibroid situation, then resorted to a myo in favor of a hyst. I have not regretted my decision even slightly. Good luck and don't stop until you get relief! There is life after fibroids! You'll find a lot of support and info. here, too. Kim
