Butternut Squash - Phenol

The lists of phenol foods have been extremely helpful...not rubbish in the

least. All of the foods that we were seeing as causing the same symptoms

were on the high and extremely high ends of the lists. As for the

butternut squash...I knew zucchini was on one list, but wasn't sure if

that would included all squashes. Well, I sat down the other night to try

to find the thread in the food journal that could be leading to so many

symptoms: crying to sobbing on an hourly basis, difficulty falling asleep,

waking at night for several hours, pee accidents at least once a day, and

sound sensitivity/covering ears more than usual. I realized that

butternut squash was the only common item over the last two weeks.

's been crying so much that I debated if I should go back down the

Paxil road. But I was determined to find the source in her diet if

possible. As soon as I realized the squash, I happened to come across the

list that included more than just " zucchihi " and actually listed " squash "

as high and I knew I had found my answer. The next day didn't eat

any squash, didn't have one accident after a week and a half of them (been

potty trained for years already), was in such a better mood, rarely

covered her ears, and was asleep in ten minutes instead of an hour! If

she has trouble falling asleep, then her sister guaranteed will wake

between 3 and 5 a.m., also reacting to the same phenolic food. As soon as

I took the squash out, slept through the night. Carrot is our only

carb left and because we're treaing yeast (and carrots are high in sugar),

I decided to brave the waters and give a 1/2 capsule of No-Fenol with an

order of veggie/squash pancakes tonight. I'd much rather just avoid the

foods and reduce her phenol load that way, but I also need a carb she can

eat without scratching her crotch by the end of the day from the sugar in

the carrots (sorry for the visual). So I have two " phenol kids " ...how

about that <sigh> (as if I needed more to add to my sign-off line:)). If

I had never come across the topic of phenols on this list, where would we

be now? Hmmm...
