Guest guest
Hi.... The most important thing is to get the book " Breaking the Vicious Cycle " by Elaine Gottschall. It's quick to read..... your library might even have it. That will make everything much clearer. You can also read up at the website: www.pecanbread.com , if you haven't already been there. There are particular juices that are " legal " on SCD...... must be diluted at first though. You'll find them listed at the website. No fluid milk is allowed..... but dairy products are allowed in the form of homemade yogurt and certain cheeses. Most of the ASD kids use goat dairy..... but that is something that is introduced later on in the diet. You really need to book to start the diet, though..... so do try to get a copy and read, read, read! Patti, mom to Katera, SCD 9 months New and need help? Guest guest
If your daughter is like my 3 year old, she is a picky eater. Probably loves french fries and pancakes or something close to it right? Patti gave good advice to read the book and go to pecanbread.com. Pecanbread is geared towards our kids and they have a good list of suggestions on how to introduce the diet slowly. We have been doing it now for 2 months and my little picky eater is eating much better. Make sure you try the intro diet for a few days, if your daughter will do it and try to follow the example given by the pecanbread website as far as the order of foods. The watch word is patience with this diet. One food at a time until you know your daughter tolerates it. Also, if your daughter had a problem with caseine before, I would hold off on the yogurt and cheeses for a little while until your daughter's gut does some healing. Squash fries and carrott fries seem to be liked by most of the picky ones. Pancakes are a good one also. We make them with egg, bananas, pears, chicken, beef, and squash. Not all together but we rotate them. For instance, egg and chicken (see recipes on pecanbread website), bananas and egg, chicken and squash... you get the idea. Try putting them on good cookie sheets and baking them at 350. They seem to come out a little fluffier than doing them in a frying pan. For drinks, I would use pear juice (fresh squeezed) and very diluted with water. If your child has a sweet tooth like mine, try putting a little sacharine in their. We buy liquid Sweet N. Low which is legal. I also put some fresh squeezed carrot juice in there sometimes. Carrots are supposed to be good for yeast/bacteria also. Also, some kids go through die off for a few days and sometimes longer. My daughter did for about a week. Then, one day she woke up a new kid and she has been doing steadily great since. Much better eye contact, sleeping all night (hoorah!!!), wanting to interact more, better language, etc. Good luck and please post with any more questions. , Dad to Kara - SCD for 2 months. > Hi everyone, > I am a mother of 2.5 autistic daughter.she has yeast overgrowth and > i really want to do SCD for her. > > where do I start?
