Guest guest
We have done some foods from Stage 3 and we are trying to add some more. I had some questions: Dates and figs: can these be dried dates and figs? Do we peel them? raisins: I assume they don't have to be peeled. tomatoes: do they have to be peeled and deseeded? celery: is this peeled? Guest guest
Hello " parent616 " Dates and Figs: I don't know if you'll find them fresh, more likely dried but at this " stage " fruits are still cooked. I don't know if you could peel a date or a fig. MAybe once they are cooked, but... Same for the raisins as the dates and figs. As in cooking raisins with applesauce for added flavour. Or in any other kind of ccoking that will add moisture/water to the dried fruit. Tomatoes: When you are ready to try tomatoes. The first step would be to peel, deseed and cook them. If that is well tolerated then you can try cooking them with the peel on but still deseeded. Celery as the others should still be cooked at first. Some people remove the fibrous strings along the back of the celery. This can be done with a knife or a vegetable peeler. Then the skin should slip right off. You have to experiment a bit with how long in the hot water so taht the skin gets loosened, but the tomato flesh doesn't get to mushy. I don't know of any tricks to de-seeding. cut it open. scoop or cut out the seeds. I find it much easier to use my fingers to do this than any spoon or other implement. -- Sue, mom to Adam and SCD 35. months
