Guest guest
Mindy, when did that energy change come for you? I've been doing this 2 weeks. I feel TONS better in my " tummy " , no longer so bloated and gassy, and funny enough I was often constipated before and now I just feel NORMAL in that regard, which is a big deal. But I feel very shaky and weak from time to time, and I'm wondering if it's the blood sugar trying to regulate itself after such a change? I am 31 and also tall and thin, in fact, I've lost some weight on this diet though I eat a GOOD deal, and am trying to make sure I don't lose any more. Health problems over the last year already have me pretty low. But I, like you, never thought I'd enjoy such healthy food so much, and have no desire to go back to the old junk, easy-grab foods. in NC Mom of Luke, age 5, Asperger's/highly sensitive to phenols & salicylates/diarrhea & gas problems; , age 3, healthy; and , 19 mos, healthy All SCD going on 2 weeks How's it working for you? I would like to add another positive note to the diet. I think this diet has done a lot of good for my kids. That's why we started it, of course. I would have never done this diet if it weren't that I thought it would help my daughter. If it were just me, I would eat in the same old way I was accustomed to, but for sake of making the diet work we did it as a family. What I've noticed is how amazing I feel. I just turned 32 and have always been a high energy person and tall and thin, but the last few years, I noticed I crash hard in the afternoons. I felt so groggy and tired that I could barely keep my eyes open for a few hours. After awhile on this diet, I realized, I wasn't dying for a nap in the afternoons. In fact, I was getting a lot more done. I even tried taking a nap and I just couldn't. I had other little aches and pains which have completely disappeared. I guess what I'm saying is that although I thought this might help my kids and at the least they would learn to eat veggies or something, I really had no idea how different I could FEEL myself. I was not expecting that. It really convinced me of the healing power of the right kinds of foods. I have cheated myself on occasion, but overall have stuck to the diet. I went to an ASD workshop with held by the school district yesterday and noticed that many people brought in their breakfast or bought it from vending machines...chips and candy bars and sodas. I used to be one of those people! Now I also feel like i have to remind myself (like I think Carol was saying at the grocery store) to not tell people what it's doing to them, because that's rude. I used to drink tea with 3-4 teaspoons of sugar added to it and now I think it tastes fine without any sweetness to it. My bowl of 'cereal' is now unthawed blueberries with a couple tablespoons of yogurt and some honey. I wouldn't even have conceived that I would be eating that a year ago. Has anyone who went on this diet just for the kids been as amazed as I have been on how it has made you feel? If my daughter had not been ASD, we wouldn't have ever changed our eating and still be eating so badly, convincing ourselves we were eating fine! Guest guest
Hi , If you are losing weight you probably need to eat more food, at least for now. You are going through a complete shift in how you feed your body. It is going to take time and more food energy. Once you have adjusted you'll notice a shift and eat more " normal " sized meals. Aslo, since you have had health problems in the past year preSCD your body is likely in " healing mode " instead of " just getting by " mode. A lot of that food energy will go to healing your body. So rest as much as possible and eat more. Sheila, 3 years SCD! UC 20 yrs mom of SCD 20 mos >Mindy, when did that energy change come for you? I've been doing this 2 >weeks. Guest guest
, I really don't know when I really felt different. I wasn't looking for changes in me. I was really only focusing on the kids. We started the diet in November and I only recently realized that I wasn't napping anymore, that I had lots of energy and was doing more things. My feet weren't hurting, my legs weren't tingly feeling. I also lost a little weight, but my ASD daughter has stayed about the same. My too skinny oldest daughter has gained a little weight. Guest guest
I am also doing this diet with my kids even though I have never had GI issues. After the 2 day intro diet I also felt like I had so much energy. I have lost about 10 lbs and went from size 14 to size 8. I had to go out and buy new jeans and it feels great. My constant craving for food (especially chocolate) went away. Foods I before thought were bland all of a sudden tasted good. After about a month on the diet I cheated and ate a meal out complete with baked potato. After an hour or so I started to feel bloated. Last week again I was out of town and ate some Thai food (with rice noodles). Once again I got that bloated feeling. Then I ate some chocolate and boy did I have a headache. It was not until then that I realized how I used to suffer with headaches after eating chocolate. My cravings for sweets came back full-force. During the holidays I was able to walk past the constant spread of Krispy Kremes, See's Candy and Mrs. Fields cookies at my work with no desire for them but once I ate a little bit of chocolate, the desire for it was almost unbearable. Now I understand how hard it is for my kids. > I would like to add another positive note to the diet. I think this > diet has done a lot of good for my kids. That's why we started it, > of course.
