Guest guest
~ I will help you do research. In all that adrenal stuff I sent out this past week, I did read about adrenals and brain and hormones that work between the two...........I will try to find it, meanwhile..........here is a site. I think that if you feel better on armour, you should take it. Thyroid function in clinical subtypes of major depression: an exploratory study , this is interesting.. I am gonna try to find the stuff I found on that subject and I will send it to you. Dont forget to had the fact that you are auto-immune and that your body acts and reacts different than the standard person they make their normal ranges for, so ya kind of have to look at the broader picture. The endo that you saw today, lives his medical career life with blinders on and with book ends on either end of his thought process. The medical field doesnt treat low adrenals, cuz they make more money if they wait til you are in serious trouble...... They dont treat cancer either. I believe we all have cancer cells, some peoples just grow and some dont. What I mean by treating it is teaching prevention. Like eating apricot seeds, (B15-and B17) See what's free at AOL.com. Guest guest
~ I hit send before I was ready......oops......... It is all very interesting. Now this one looks good, I will read more of it, but check it out......The Human Brain - Stress Hormones rush to your adrenal glands to suppress the streaming cortisol on its way to your brain. Other hormones rush to your brain to round up all the remnants of cortisol missles that made it to your hippocampus. These hormones escort the cortisol remnants back to Kidneyland for a one-way ride on the Bladderhorn. You have now reached metabolic equilibrium, also known as homeostasis. There is so much out there.......... I would love to read all you find, so please send them on..........Thank you and Bless you ! ! DSee what's free at AOL.com. Guest guest
Dede, Thank you so much for asking. To be honest I don't know for sure. He was in his sixties and rather " staunch " . He told me to stop the Armour as I did not have thyroid disease. I had suspected this since I do not have Hashi antibodies ....just low thryoid function... so no real surprise there. He told me that my cortisol profile from canary was indicative of ...you guessed it.... " clinical depression " . I then asked him how he treats low functioning adrenals and he said he didn't. He said the medical community does not recognize anything other than outright adrenal failure. I had read that this was their philosophy. Now..I think I need to research clinical depression profiles...because the canary test measures adrenal function specifically!!! Not brain chemicals. I want to see if there are links to adrenals in clinical depression. I am not going to rule out what he said...as I have had " untold " and " undue " stress for the last 15 years and yes, it is more than the usual stuff. So...for now I think I will try going without my Armour. And I will discuss the Cortef/clinical depression stuff with my primary doctor next week...and do some research in the mean time. > > ~ > That is good. How did your endo appt go? Guest guest
I would not trust this doctor on the Armour or anything else. Follow your thyroid tests, and if they are low, I would still take the Armour. I have never tested positive for Antithyroid Antibodies, but have a very low thyroid. I would be severely depressed if I quit taking a supplenent for this. I think your doctor is of the old school and not " with it " . Guest guest
, well you know what I am going to say. I am just so sick of the run around a lot of us get. You know that is what my dr said after a couple of visits and could not figure it out. He said to take an antidepressant, and I KNEW I was not just depressed, it was at this time I had the implants and had an infection in the right side. So I suppose numbness on one side is depression. I am very curious to hear this. But I believe you when you say they only treat the end stages. I had a terrible crash today, which is right on about every two weeks. And my thyroid swelled up with the crash, so this is depression right? My recovery is getting quicker with these though, so that is good. How are you feeling? Are you in pain or just exhausted? What are you doing next? Love Nan > > > > ~ > > That is good. How did your endo appt go? Guest guest
Hi , Has he checked your serotonin levels? Aren’t dopamine levels involved with clinical depression as well? The new MD I saw a couple of weeks ago is 68 years old and does believe in adrenal fatigue and adrenal exhaustion so I have to differ in opinion with your doctor saying the medical community doesn’t recognize these — he doesn’t and shouldn’t speak for the entire medical community. Do you believe you are depressed? I wonder if you increased your serotonin levels with 5HTP if it would affect any of the other hormones. Interesting stuff! Kenda Thank you so much for asking. Guest guest
~ I think you need to send him a bill for an hour and a half of your valuable time. It is legit, and a doc I worked for was always very late, and never for a legit reason, and there was a man that billed him, and another balled him out in front of everyone, but in a very respectful way. It made my day ! ! I worked for this guy for 14 years, and he was an donkey in the biggest way. God Love Ya ~ we will get this all figured out, somehow...Hugs ~ DSee what's free at AOL.com. Guest guest
Nan, I am not exhausted nor am I in any pain. As I told him, I actually feel good. I simply went to this endo because I had never been to an endocrinologist and wanted to see what he would say about my test results. I also went because my sister was begging me to go to an endo instead of my alternative medicine doctor. I took all the results from thyroid and adrenals plus hair analysis, Iodine testing, heavy metals testing...etc. Truth be told, four years ago..I was put on Zoloft for the undue stress. It was while on this that some of my symptons started. I quickly weaned off the stuff...and have stayed off for over two years. So..how do I know the Zoloft didn't help this illness along somewhat? If I had been depressed then why didn't this Zoloft help me then. I do think I was somewhat depressed before the Cortef...but that is a sympton of thyroid and adrenal dysfuction too.! I feel great now. How do I know Zoloft didn't damage my hypothalmus? His statements raise more questions than even he has answers for.LOL > > > > > > ~ > > > That is good. How did your endo appt go? Guest guest
Kenda, I have not had any of the brain chemical levels checked. And yes both seratonin and dopamine levels are key measures in clinical depression. He didn't offer to measure them today either. Are these levels easily measured. What is 5HTP? I was probably a bit " depressed " before the Cortef. But that is a sympton of both thyoid and adrenals. I feel great...since taking the Cortef. I am not depressed at all ! I think this doctor simply doesn't want to waste his time " outside the box " . I asked about heavy metals and endocrine issues...and he said. " I am not a toxicologist " . So he is someone who studies the endocrine system and turns a blind eye to things that affect endocrine.. Will not be of much use to me. Will need to find someone else or stick with my current doctor. -- In , Kenda Skaggs <lovesgoldens@...> wrote: > > > Hi , > > > > Has he checked your serotonin levels? Guest guest
Oh and Nan. I agree with you 100% here. I guess " depression " was the reason for my very swollen and painful neck glands, as well as nauseous feelings, ear aches, [pnuemonia and multiple sinus infections....etc...two years ago. It was at this time, I think I had an adrenal crisis or immune crisis. And this doctor today also said, that he would have read my ultra sound of my thyroid " normal " rather than the way the doctor reading the ultra sound read it which was " goiter/thyroidmegaly " . The more I think about this appointment the madder i get. I am going to get my test results next week, but cancel the follow appt in May. > > > > > > ~ > > > That is good. How did your endo appt go? Guest guest
Hi , It’s interesting that he would diagnose you with “clinical” depression when he didn’t even check your hormone levels. THAT is disgusting! Yes, they are very easy to check. Neuroscience has a test to check your neuroregulatory hormones. Check out neuroscienceinc.com 5HTP is converted into serotonin In the body. My ND prescribes it to depressed patients rather than antidepressants. My serotonin level was low a few years ago but 5HTP corrected it, it is now actually on the high side, as is my dopamine. Dr. Leu teases me about being happy all the time. I never was depressed but my hormones were that of a depressed person. I’m sorry you don’t live closer to me, I highly recommend both my ND and MD. Kenda Kenda, I have not had any of the brain chemical levels checked. Guest guest
I believe that gentleman that calles himself doctor needs a brain transplant and a new pair of glasses, and his spincter tightened. As you can tell, I am not at all impressed with doctors like they are with themselves. .....See what's free at AOL.com.
Guest guest
, just makes me sick too to hear this but to make you feel better I have wasted hours and hours and tons of money on these ridiculous dr visits. Don't get me wrong on the depression thing, I AM depressed because I have felt so lousy for so long. But it does not make sense to call the illness depression. And like you I have a TON of stress on a daily basis, way above a normal person, and this has made it difficult to get better, but I am crawling my way there! I just think that this dr was awful, I think they go to med school and learn the bit they know and that is it, they treat very obvious cases of things and miss a lot. How did I get the vitamin D level of an 80 year old with a problem, did NO one run this test in my MANY dr visits. I know they miss stuff, only human, but don't tell me I am anxious or depressed. If you are feeling good then you have done something right. I will ask dr kolb about this. Love Nan > > > > > > > > ~ > > > > That is good. How did your endo appt go? Guest guest
Ya know ~ It is normal to have some depression. being sick and doctors not being intelligent enough to treat us, but hey, it is a normal amount, and your body is suposed to be equipped to handle it with reserves, or chain of command in the hormone department. But, when you are clearly symptomatic, treatment is recommended, especially when it makes you feel good ! ! ! Hugs and Hope ~ DSee what's free at AOL.com. Guest guest
Thanks DeDe, I think it would be interesting to investigate some of that. I am not depressed. Or at least not since on Cortef. Cortef could be masking something else. I am going to speak with my doctor about it next week. I was tired...and fatigue...and " down " about that...until Cortef. > > ~ > I will help you do research. Guest guest
Katy, You have that right. Actually, I was shocked he said that to me. He is the first doctor that has said that. I mean...I went for my thyroid and adrenals. Don't tell me I am depressed!! > > > > > > ~ > > > That is good. How did your endo appt go? Guest guest
Kenda, He didn't diagnose me with clinical depression. He said the cortisol patterns from the canary test are " indicative of someone who is clinically depressed " . Then he went into a discussion about some antidepressant he gives people. He then told me to get off my Armour and wean down off the Cortef, if I wanted. Still...even though he brought this up...he didn't check for any brain chemistry levels... > >>>>> > >> > > >>>>> > >> > ~ > >>>>> > >> > That is good. How did your endo appt go? Guest guest
~ They just make me sick ! I just cant believe I worked for one 14 years.......and I couldnt hardly stand his ways. I loved my job though. Tis life........ Because they are doctors, they should be smarter, a good listener, compassionate, giving, and always interested in a new angle on something. I hope you feel better, Hugs ~ DSee what's free at AOL.com.
