Just thinking on this a little more. I know the DCCC you buy from the

grocery store can be frozen, but I'm not sure about the stuff you make from

yogurt.

Maybe someone else can answer that.

Mom wants to make some DCCC for me, to help out. Can it be frozen and thawed?

She would be using her yogurt maker, following the directions you all gave to

make DCCC from the dripped yogurt. Thanks!

Any suggestions on how best to do this? Don't mean to sound dumb, but I mean,

just in a freezer proof container? And let thaw in fridge? She's a lifesaver,

but she lives in VA, so anything she does will have to keep until they come down

again.

Thanks so much!

How great that your Mom wants to help! Yes, the DCCC can be frozen.

Hi ,

Yes, just in a freezer bag or freezer proof container. If it is going to be

a very longer time in the freezer you may want to double bag (or bag the

container) to prevent freezer burn and also make sure you put some baking

soda in the freezer (to absorb odours) so it doesn't come out smell like the

other things in the freezer. It probably wouldn't be as tasty if it smelled

like fish.

My niece brought me DCCC in what looked like regular cottage cheese boxes

when she came down from Minneapolis last summer. I just put the boxes in

the freezer and left them. It froze solid, and when I want to use it, I

take a box out and either leave it on the counter for a couple hours, or

leave it in the refrigerator for a day.

Works great!

The stuff my niece brought me was not made from yogurt. However, I have

frozen yogurt cheese and it works just fine. You may get some extra water

off it when you defrost it, but just drain that out, and it ought to be

great.

Your mom is VERY kind -- just make sure she does the yogurt the proper SCD

way!

Oh, she will - she had the book read before I did. She's been up on all the

things we've done with Luke. And she IS very kind, she is actually my

mother-in-law, but I never call her that. She's just our Mom! :)
