Guest guest
Hi Bev and , I agree with you , I went into remission the second time after having RSD for 4 years. I had very aggressive treatment including surgery to remove a pinched nerve and things were pretty good, not completely gone, but much better. Then the reinjury 10 years after the first one and things got out of control, way out of control. Nothing helped at all for the first 1 1/2 years, not even surgery or blocks which had worked in the past. Then I found my hero, a doc who actually listened to what I described and was able to diagnose the problem. It has just recently, in the past few years, become known to doctors and I know my other doc, the one who fixed my ankle before, is kicking himself because he wouldnt' look surgically at the spot where I told him the problem was. He could have been the one who helped discover this type of lesion. Well, I had more surgeries last year, one in January of this year and am doing better, not as good as I want to be but better. Still not able to work yet but I am able to stay off all meds for the most part mainly because I can stay home and set my own schedule. This allows me to work around the pain and take regular breaks. I also don't wear shoes in the house and that itself helps a lot. I am hoping to get back into a state of semi-remission and be like I was before the last injury. Of course, breaking my RSD ankle 3 weeks ago didnt' help things any! I don't know what I was thinking, but then I was asleep so I wasn't thinking was I? I am so angry with the police and think I might file a formal complaint. Anyway, once the bone is healed I hope I don't have a flare up when I start walking again and want to try to get back to work. It has been more than 3 years since I last worked and I am really bored but know that I can't handle a job with a set schedule yet. I know remission is possible, even after 13 years of having varying degrees of RSD and now being in the final stage where my bones are severely degenerated. That is probably why my ankle broke and I just hope it heals okay so I can walk again. Never lose sight of hope, it is what keeps us going.
