I live in Michigan. My mother has severe dementia and is now in a nursing

facility. All on this board were a great deal of help for it was a

nightmare when it all began last year, this month.

My mother had quit paying bills, taxes, mortgage, ect., and threw most

everything out. I have power of attorney. Now the third party debt

collectors have sent out a summons and complaint, and in the wrong court no

less. At any rate, this state says I cannot represent my mother in court,

nor file paperwork. The house went into foreclosure; they have no assests,

savings, bonds, zip. She and her husbandhave nothing but what SS gives them

and what they get goes to the nursing facility, and the little left is for

incidentals, hair, and other things to make them a little more comfortable.

My husband and I already have spent more than we can afford taking care of

them and their business. We are broke too.

Anyone know if there is any way I can represent my mother, or who has had

the same problem and knows what to do? I could take my mom to court I

guess, and help her fill out paperwork, but she doesn't remember

anything....long term is ok, short term is shot. She's forgotten who she

was married to until my husband and I finally transferred him out there with

him. She thought she was still married to my dad, which ended forty years

ago.

Any suggestions? It would be horrible for them to get a default judgment.

Thanks,

Darlene
