Guest guest
we are all, the whole family, on the diet, although my husband doesnt stick to it outside of home. Both of my boys and I are on it and we make wonderful strawberry/ banana smoothies for us. My youngest with Ds has eaten yogurt as a main part of his diet since he was a baby so he eats a lot of it still. He does not have a diarreha ( I dont know how to spell that word), problem. His problem is more of constipation but the yogurt helps that. I was also giving him the acidophilus supplement. I, on the other hand, seem to need this diet more than anyone. If I cheat just one time, like I did during the holidays, I pay for it the next day, either with a sugar problem or bad intestinal (the Big D word) problems. Which brings me to another thing..... I have a sugar problem so when I make my desserts, I have to use sweet and low. If I use honey, like I do for the kids, I have the shakes the next day. I do not seem to have that problem when I eat fruits. I am borderline diabetic (I had it real bad when I was pregnant and had to have insulin shots). I do believe I was diabetic before I started this diet, although the Doc's would say no. My sugar would be around 147 after fasting in the mornings. Since I have cut out the carbs (I actually started on Atkins and switched to SCD) my fasting sugar is now a normal 70 and I feel a hundred percent batter. Eating the SCD carbs seem to not affect my sugar, except sweet things like honey or juice, but not fruit. Does anyone on here have anything similar in regards to diebetes? oh... and still no one has answered my question about making whipping cream ) My goal is to learn how to make goat cheese, cream, cream cheese..... besides just yogurt <grin> thanks a bunch! Guest guest
I had been using a lot of honey as I have at least three servings of yogurt a day and often add honey to other recipes too. Since going off a T supplement three weeks ago I have had rapid weight gain and will moderate not eliminate honey as it has some good nutritional properties. Instead, I now dissolve a saccharine tablet in few drops of warm water and add it to the yogurt and it was really fine. Guest guest
Judy..... I have never tried whipping yogurt..... somehow I think it wouldn't work too well. I did try whipping coconut milk once..... and I can tell you THAT doesn't work! On the diabetes issue...... there is something called " insulin resistance " that is like one step above diabetes. You might do a net search using that term and see what you find. I'm not surprised that the SCD legal carbs don't bother you. I know if (pre-SCD) I ate anything with real sugar in it.... anything more than just a bite...... OR plain white bread, white rice, or popcorn, something like that..... I would notice my heart pounding and then have just a feeling of exhaustion come over me about half an hour later. Fruit..... even something like a couple of large handfuls of raisins.... doesn't do it to me at all.
