I did the test a few weeks ago and tested very low on iodine. Within a

couple of days taking the iodine supplement, I felt very jittery. My doc

advised me to cut my Westhroid dose in half. Lab work last Friday showed

my thyroid to test in the normal range.

I use Lugols solution, 1/2 strength, and I never go more than 2 drops. You can get too much iodine, so a little goes a long way. I was able to cut the Westhroid dose in half. I am hopeful that I can stop

taking it entirely in time. I had only been taking Iodine for about two

weeks when I had the labs run. I would think that I should redo the Iodine

test as well to see if I am still low in it. If I am, hopefully I will be

able to stop Westhroid entirely and boost Iodine.

I don't know of a safe dose, my dose was recommended based on an Iodine

secretion test. Since you are dealing with hormones, I wouldn't advise

simply taking Iodine without being tested.

Actually, I felt good on my Westhroid dose. The dose worked well for me and

was well regulated. I did have to increase it once during the several years

I took it but that was it. I feel just as good taking Iodine as I did on

the full Westhroid dose.
