Guest guest
Hi regarding your comment on the media " hyping the disease " . Here in Ontario we are on full alert.Hospitals are being shut down, patients are not being transferred, elective surgery cancelled and people are " dieing " .I don't know where you live ,but SARS is in it's infancy and is mutating.Lets hope it is only like influenza! Guest guest
, I'm sorry, I didn't mean any disrespect. I was just passing along an article that I found. I know that it is killing people and it is new and unexplained. I hope that they can find a way to stop it soon. > > > Thanks ! Guest guest
Oh Cy, I can only imagine how disappointed both you and your son are about the trip to China. Although a difficult decision, I think you probably made the right decision. My Nephrologist cautioned me against traveling to the region with the SARS. It is just not worth the risk. I am sorry you both have to miss out on an opportunity though.
Guest guest
Hi , The anti-rejection drugs taken after a transplant are my biggest eventual concern too. Marty seems to have had a pretty easy time with the meds though. Maybe he can give you some encouragement on that front.
Guest guest
Another person died in Ontario (the province I also live in) yesterday. 4 so far. No reported cases in my city though. Guest guest
Hi , I went out to the US CDC site, which lists how many people per state have the illness. The CDC site also has a link to the World Health Organization which contains a graph that shows how many people per country have the illness. Last I checked (yesterday), the Chinese government said there were 608 confirmed cases in China. I am just sad, because this China trip really is a once in a life time experience and my son's teacher has worked so hard to make it happen. His classroom is linked via computer to another classroom in China. We had received an invitation to visit them and stay at their school with the Chinese government picking up most of the cost. I can't exactly say " there, there, you'll go to China next year.. " . If it wasn't for my son's health status, I'll probably take the risk. However, as it stands now, I don't think I could quite live with myself if my son got sick and the MPGN relapsed. Guest guest
Hi , Junior High is such an important age. Those years are really very formative aren't they. We need more good teachers who love their students!
Guest guest
is due to have his transplant in April. I think he was going to post us when he had the exact date/time of his transplant. I may have missed it, but I haven't seen his post yet. Please do let us know so we can be in prayer for you during your transplant .
Guest guest
I am so sorry that this trip is not going to work out for you. I know it is difficult to disappoint your son too. I hope that they find a cure for this thng, there are so many people who have reduced immune systems. My husband says that I should not worry because I am a teacher and must have antibodies to everything. I think I need to be somewhere in the middle on the worry scale. I know I am concerned about having this transplant in 6 weeks and taking all that antiregection medication afterward. Guest guest
Hi , Where/what do you teach? You must be great in the classroom. I bet all your kids are rooting for you. All the antirejection medicine is scary ( used to be on a very high dose of cyclo - not as high as transplant patients, but higher than anyone else I heard of) Having this damn SARS thing around just raises the anxiety level. You must be counting days... Cy SARS > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Cy, > > > > > > > > > > > > Here is an article about SARS stating that it's really just the > > > > > > media hyping the disease. Guest guest
Thank you. And yes I am counting the days. Where do I teach? I teach 7th grade geography in Rock Hill South Carolina. My kids are wonderful, but complaining because I have been out so much getting ready. (Stress test, dentist, ect.) I had to go in today in the afternoon after being absent and my 6th period class was waving desparately at me. I think the work that I left them was a bit much. Plus the subs are pretty tight with them. It's nice to have hugs when I get back after being away. Guest guest
, It's Monday April the 7th and it starts at 8:00 AM Central Time. That's when my donor's surgery will start and mine should be about 2 hours after that for approx. 4 hours. That's all just estimated of course. Guest guest
Hi Sally Oh gosh, I tried my hardest to persuade my mum not to go to China, but she was adamant on going and she did so yesterday. Now I shall spend the next 16 days worrying about her, she is visiting all the places that have been mentioned on the news. Perhaps I need to take a chill pill, but my mum picks up URI at the drop of a hat. As for me, flat on my back for most of the day, saw the doctor yesterday and I have slipped two discs, and all this from one sneeze!!!!! Not having much fun lately, but you know I am still gonna stare it in the face and laugh, I will not be beaten. Just waiting for physio now to put them back and untangle the knotted muscles. Hope your ok. Best wishes Re: SARS We keep hearing how many people have died, but we never hear how many are supposed to have this illness. Guest guest
Oh , What can I say but my goodness things are surely sent to try you. The slip discs could well be because you've been so unwell and not so active? The old muscles not supporting your vertebrae? I sympathise very much as my brother, mother and sister have had back surgery that, touch wood, is something I haven't inherited so far. Re your Mum, I'm sure that they will be giving advise and suggesting wearing masks where appropriate etc and statistically its all very much in her favour. Keep positive. Sally UK. Guest guest
, How disappointing to hear your sister's creatinine was too high. Let us all hope and pray that the 24 hour comes back with better results. Please keep us informed when she retests. Good news about your other sister though. I am glad she is willing to try to cut back on her exercise for a while and get retested. I really pray one of the two sisters will work out for you . , I am really pulling for you, as I know the entire group is.

My sister has had a hard time gettin correct information form her Dr. for this. Doday's results were that her creatine was too high which would put her kidney function at about 50%. She and my coordinator distrust that information. She is going to run this 24 hour catch once again from a different Dr.'s office. If her function is indeed at 50, then she needs to go to a nephrologist herself. About 1 year ago, her creatine was fine, so we are hopeful. My other sister, who was thrown out because she exercises to much and throws albumine, is going to stop exercising a few days and see if her 24 hour improves. She needs to lay off so much water too. Last year when she ws knocked out of the " running " she had to have 3 jugs. The lab couldn't believe that anyone could pee so much. Anyway, please everyone, keep me and my sisters in your prayers. Thank You!! >>
