Guest guest Posted September 10, 2000 Report Share Posted September 10, 2000 Haze, His explanation for the lighter and lighter period is that I am not building appropriate endometruim thickness so when it sheds it is very light. He does not think this is due to scar tissue (did a scan and did not find any scar tissue) He thinks that the lining is just not responding to my normal amounts of estrogen possibly due to a pituitary problem. After all the hormone therapy I have had over the past year, my body may have gotten a bit confused. He gave me some birth control pills to take in hopes that this will stimulate the gland. The good news is that he is confident that with fertility drug treatment, the endometrium should build to an appropriate thickness. I am not going to take the BCPs until I am ready to try for a pregnancy. We are not planning on this until next summer so I am keeping the pills until then and will take two months worth prior to the beginning of fertility treatment. My lining this last cycle was 9.5mm and my period still was only spotting for a few days. I would have thought that I would have bleed alot more because there actually was enough to shed. Anyone have any ideas or experiance this same situation? Guest guest Posted September 11, 2000 Report Share Posted September 11, 2000 Tina: I'm stumped. 9.5mm is a very good thickness and I would think you also should have had a fairly normal blood flow. I can't explain why you only spotted. How did you know your lining was 9.5mm? Did you have an ultrasound? A thickness of 9mm or 10mm is considered normal I believe. I am sure as teens we had normal thickness.. and the flows varied a lot.. i remember i had a very heavy flow and i had friends how said they did not... i think everyone is a little different.. 9.5 sounds like a good lining though... some people with ovulation problems but average thickness might have a lighter flow ( had a friend with this problem.. though all she needed was clomid,, gets pregnant with it everytime on first try.. gets she just needs a boost... always thought she ovulated because she had a period each month.. not always true).. well,, seems everything is a mystery huh? good luck, Janet In Ashermansegroups, " luke & tina krause " <ltkrause@p...> wrote: > Celeste, > What is considered appropriate endometrial thickness? Guest guest Posted September 26, 2000 Report Share Posted September 26, 2000 --- i know.. just strange i read these stories where woman have carried with thinner linings.. and after my mc @ 19 weeks i requested my medical records and my u/s report ( about 4- 5 weeks preg at time i think.. i do remember it wsa so early they couldn't see fetal pole yet)..the report said: a normal endometrium thickness of 4mm!! now how the hell do they call that normal? HOw did i even carry to 19 weeks or get preg for that matter with such a lining????? prior to conception it was 2mm and they put me on clomid to trick body into producing more hormones to get lining ready.. i thought it worked.. i wished i had read that report while preg , maybe i could have requested something at the time to thicken it.. ??? still haunts me as that was most likely my last chance for having my second child adn to think stupidity like that ruined it... just talking out loud again.. i am still stumped over it though.. janet In Ashermansegroups, celjim@a... wrote: > Janet, > I hope 8mm is all I need. I feel better already, I was envisioning having to have a LAP and be hospitalized for egg retrieval....AND I thought you had to wait another cycle for their insertion and I am feeling such a sense of urgency that I didn't want to wait more than one cycle if at all possible.....seeing as we are already facing the likely lining issue....we'll have to see. We have our IVF consult on the 9th which should be about 6 days before my Day 1 so that should give us about a week to adjust to the idea and absorb all the info. from the consult. My RE was talking about my using progesterine injections...(something mentioned she opted not to do as she used pills instead.) Did you use such injections? Also, did you use Repronex?
