If I recall, it was almost exactly a month after, but I'm ridiculously

regular. I think anywhere from a month or two is normal.

Dawn,

I got af exactly 28 days after and it lasted for two weeks. Then the

following month it was 30 days and I just spotted for 1-2 weeks. This last

time it was 30 days and lasted 3 days. I have been irregular since going off

the pill 3 yrs ago. Did everyone take a hpt when the were pg with their ep? I

briefly considered it back in Aug. but I finally started after a 37 day

cycle. Even though we were ttc that was normal for me. I sure wish I had that

opportunity to see a positive hpt. This was the first cycle of no birth

control of any kind. I guess the doctor was right I will never get pg again.

Sorry there I go again. :* (

Yes, a cold can mess up your temps. You may not be able to tell much from

this cycle if that is the case. As for the opk's they say the store brands

are as good as the name brands, so I don't know about these you found

online...Target has a pack of 5 for not much more than that price though,

and you would not have to pay shipping. That is what I hate about internet

shopping - paying to have it shipped to me.

Good luck!

Dawn,

after my m/c and ep it took forever for AF to show up. The doc had suggested provera, I waited a day or two and then she showed up on her own but I remember it was about 6weeks and 3 days

I have a question. When did everyone receive AF after their loss? I had my ectopic in June and AF showed up 4 weeks later. This time, I have a miscarriage in Oct. and it has been 6 weeks and still no AF. I am pretty sure I ovulated a little over 14 days ago going by CM, but that's not definite. I am not an expert in that area. I am just wondering why AF hasn't arrived yet and worried that something is wrong. Remember, I have a dermoid cyst on my right ovary (the side with no tube). Could that cause me to miss AF? If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

Thanks,

Dawn

Pam:

I don't think your hcg level must be at 0 in order to get AF. It may have

been that way for you, but with my ep, I got AF immediately after my surgery

and then it came again a month later, just no ovulation in that cycle or the

next. They never monitored hcg, so I have no way of knowing for sure, but I

also had a miscarriage a year before the ep where I bled for 5 days before I

realized something was wrong. When they then did a blood test my hcg level

was still in the 5-7 week range and it took three weeks for the level to get

to 0. I had long since finished my period by then.

I have to admit I am not familiar with hcg levels in ep, since like I said

they did not monitor them after my surgery, but obviously having a 0 level

was not necessary for me as an individual when it came to AF. Dawn, you

might want to ask your doctor about this.

I meant to also say that AF is triggered by progesterone levels dropping.

Estrogen causes the egg to grow and once it is released at ovulation the

corpus luteum releases progesterone to prepare the uterus. If the egg is

fertilized and implants, it causes the corpus luteum to continue making

progesterone until the placenta takes over. If there is no pg, then the

corpus luteum stops creating progesterone and AF comes. This is why it is

so important for a woman's progesterone to be monitored if/when she becomes

pg...otherwise she can start to bleed if the levels drop too low and lose

the baby.

I did not take a hpt with my ep because I had no idea I was even pg to begin

with. I found out in the emergency room one breath before they told me that

the baby was already dead due to the rupture and that they were going to

have to do surgery to make repairs and stop the internal bleeding. I have

come to view hpts as pretty unreliable anyway due to my personal history

with them, so I don't know if I would have taken one anyway.

I don't remember your doctor's exact prognosis, but I find it very hard to

believe that it is impossible for you to get pg again...I do recall that

several of us urged you to get a second opinion on that. There are so many

things that can be done nowadays for fertility problems...I think there

always can be hope!

Take care sweetie,

I did take an hpt with my ep because I am very regular after going off the

pill. Also, I have never charted temps but I have been pretty right on with

CM and AF showing up 14 days later. With the ep I had two false tests and

then a very faint (barely noticable) line on the third one.

Hello ladies!

Well, I went for the blood test yesterday and haven't got the results yet, but AF showed up last night at 11 pm (6.4 weeks after the miscarriage) At least I know nothing is wrong with my body. However, I was getting a little excited at the thought that I might be pg again. I have to keep reminding myself that we weren't even ttc yet and the doctor wanted us to wait until Jan. It doesn't really make me feel better, though. Thanks for everyone who was concerned and wrote.

Take care,

Dawn

  • 1 month later...

Dear Pam,

I went to college in San , so I lived there for four years. Most of

my girlfriends got jobs there and are still there now. I live in Houston

which is only about 3 hours from here. Driving for us Texans is no biggie.

Going anywhere takes time because everything is so spread out. San

is a wonderful place to visit. There is so much to do and see....you better

watch out you'd probably want to become a Texan!! :)

I also wanted to comment on the Clomid issue. I have been on more cycles of

it than I care to remember. I got pregnant on it three times (2 ep's and 1

m/c). I loved the fact that it straightened out my weirdo cycle. It made

predicting ovulation easy. The side effects bothered me slightly when I

first started taking it (bloating...yuck) after a while I never even noticed

it. I think I just either learned how to deal with it or maybe they went

away. The months that I wasn't ttc after a loss I would still take it to

make sure I ovulated and get my body in the routine to prepare for the

months that I was going to ttc. I was only taking 50mg. The reason I am

stepping up and now going with the Gonal F injections and IUI is that I have

one tube and ovulating from the good side doesn't happen that often for me.

I go in and have the u/s of the ovaries to determine that. Anyway, my RE

said with these heavy duty stuff it will pretty much make both sides have

follicles.

I was happy with Clomid and felt that the benefits far outweighed the risks.

Good luck and it's nice that you have a positive outlook!! I'm going to get

that back, it's an effort these days but definitely necessary!!

Thanks,

Stacey
