Guest guest
This doesn't make sense - it flies in the face of the cooperation between the Memorial system and Rural Metro in Houston. Is this once again another rumor of R/M's demise, or is there something to back this up? Mike If you were told that R/M is pulling out, by whom, at what function? Guest guest
I was contacted last night by a friend who is a RM supervisor in San asking about employment here in Austin. She told me that RM is pulling out, so I would have to say that there is some truth to the news. Ed Strout, Educational Development Coordinator Austin EMS Ofc. Pgr. Guest guest
From what we've been told here in West Texas...Rural Metro is pulling all but 2 operations out of the entire state! We were given 60 days here as well. Re: Rural Metro > One of my students who works for RM Houston, said everyone was given 60 days > to find new employment. Guest guest
It's true. Most RM operations in Texas are shutting down in around 45 days. The only ones I know for sure that are safe (at this time!) are Fort Worth, Arlington, and Borger. There may be others that are safe, but I haven't heard for sure. I would like to hear from other operations in Texas on their status. This is very sad, lots of hard working people are unemployed. Guest guest
Rural Metro will close their Dallas doors as of June 15. All employees are being given the option of transfering to Medstar/Fort Worth or Rural Metro Arlington. I am also told that Hurst and Watauga were given 120 days written notification of intent to pull out. Guest guest
That would cause alot of undo stress on the people that are being served by this company. But on the other hand they should at least make an effort to make th transition easier than that of AMR... A.J. Guest guest
I am an employee of r/m and I personally believe that rural/metro will survive this crunch. They have been a provider of health and fire services for 50 years. I just hope that people will stop jumping to conclusions and step back and see that rural/metro will survive, and keep providing the best pre-hospital care available.................. Guest guest
Except that it's most likely R/M's biggest contract in Houston, and represents quite a lot of business for someone else to pick up if they cease operations. It also represents a lot of lost potential revenue. Guest guest
From what I've heard through the grapevine I gather that potential revenue is not what RM needs right now, it's cash. Guest guest
I Was informed that the only operations going away are the general transport markets. This is the info I have been told. Corpus, San , Houston, Dallas, and Beaumont. There may be more but I believe that all the " 911 " operations are safe for now.
Guest guest
I have HEARD from several sources that the root of RM's problems lie in their Medicare billing. And that they have been under investigation for several months for fraud. I also KNOW that Memorial Hermann will NOT be renewing their contract with RM. But that much is evident. JCG P.S. I said INVESTIGATION. I am NOT claiming or stating ANYTHING. Pure speculation and hear say. I know how some on this list like to persecute. Guest guest
Great for RM! It's not them that I'm particularly concerned about right now. It's the hundreds of people that are out of jobs. People that were dedicated to their jobs and communities. Of course, you're not out of a job, are you? We're not jumping to conclusions. It's a fact that this is happening. Not to mention the several communities in Texas that are suddenly finding themselves without EMS. I don't mean to preach, but what you said was a bit insensitive. Try to think about the people involved before you go cheerleading. Connie --- trauma2002@... wrote: > I am an employee of r/m and I personally believe > that rural/metro will > survive this crunch. Guest guest
In talking with people from Arlington and Grand Priaire the FD's in both cities are going to be taking over the EMS which is now run by R/M. Sounds like they are going under FAST... All that Dallas R/M does is transfers unless they back up Arlington/GP. I'm sure that Ft. Worth want be far behind, knowing RM.
