Well, at least if it had been hickeys then I should have been having some fun but unfortunately all my hubby does is laugh when he looks at me with my Naired face !!! Maybe my next visit should be to the Shriners Burn Institute !!!!

Oh ,

I once did the same thing! While in college us girls spent plenty of time on make-up and primping.....priorities, you know :-) Well, I had the brilliant idea to use the Nair that we had all used on our legs....to do my eyebrows, instead of plucking. Like you.....I figured out right away that that was not a good idea :-(

good luck.....I hope the Aloe helps, it sounds like a good idea. tale care,

Connie

Subject: Aarrrgggghhhhh

OK now Ive really done it !!! Im sure some of you can relate to the wonderful prednisone side effect of facial hair and if you cant, well let's just hope you dont ever have to deal with it. I have been using the new Nair for this problem about once a month for a while now with no problems. It even states on the bottle that the only places that it cannot be used is on your breasts and "down below." Welllllllllllllllll, never again !!! Saturday night I put it on and after about a minute my entire face was on fire !! I washed it off immediately and am now left with big burns all over the bottom half of my face. I look like something out of a freak show !!! Have spent the past 24 hours slathering my face with pieces from my aloe plant and it is now scabbing over. Makeup doesnt hide it either so Im staying close to home as not to scare the entire city of Orlando. & n! bsp;

.....Ok, that message sure made my day. I can relate....

I had so much facial hair you would have thought I was a gorilla. I was

loosing my hair on my head and gaining it on my face. I did the exact

same thing you did with the exception that I left it on after the

stinging started. Once I rinsed it off, the blood had come to the

surface in many areas.... I looked like someone had just sucked on my

whole face for hours causing HUGE hickeys.....LOL

You live and you learn....aint it fun!

One of the side effects of taking prednisone is that not only does it cause

hair growth in unusual areas and cause it to fall out in others, it makes

the skin very fragile. It is NEVER a good idea to use a chemical hair

remover while taking prednisone not even by a professional. Unfortunately

any method of hair removal can be damaging to the skin so you have to be

very careful. I would recommend Nads. You can order it through TV

commercials and I think one of the home shopping channels carries it. You

can go to their web sites and search for it or you can do an internet search

for Nads. It was invented by a woman who had a daughter with unusually

large amounts of dark body hair and she was teased terribly for it. Her

mother decided to try to invent a product that would remove the hair, be all

natural, and not by damaging to the skin. It is a totally all natural

product that was invented in her kitchen. She is from Australia btw.

I am a blonde and naturally have very little body hair, but I too have

suffered with hair growth in places I never had it before. In the beginning

of the prednisone use, hair was falling out of my head like crazy but thank

goodness it stopped. If anything, I have more hair now everywhere than I

have ever had before. I used to get the nastiest looks from other women

when they heard me say that I only had to shave my underarms and legs once a

week when most shave every day. Now I have to shave much more often if I

feel up to it that is. The most bothersome to me is the hair on my face

that I have never had before. I hope it will go away as I start to come off

the prednisone.

BTW, I am down to 35mg of prednisone a day now. So far so good. I

definitely had a rip roaring infection and I am starting to feel much

better. I am trying to take it easy so I don't send myself back into a

flare. Although being too sick to go to my mother-in-laws this weekend

would not be a bad thing. I am also taking 20mg of Paxil every night now.

I think it has helped with the anxiety about the breathing and it has

definitely helped the depression. I do have to admit that I am worried how

I will do in continuing to decrease the prednisone. I really don't want to

be sick during Christmas and I don't know how I can manage to get ready if I

start having all that trouble breathing. It is a rather frightening

thought. But again, maybe it would be good for my in-laws to see me at my

worst so that maybe that might get the picture. You know the comments we

here about how we look so good how could we be sick or you must be feeling

much better because you look great. And in my case, she could care less how

I look or feel. Oh well, maybe we can work it out that I won't have to go.

We are going to spend Thanksgiving Day with my mother who is very

understanding and we have a great time together, but sometime over the

holiday weekend I am afraid we are going to have to make an appearance at my

mother-in-laws.

Gentle hugs,

Fern

Good Morning Everyone.....

Hi Fern.....I had to laugh at your hair problem.... as an Italian

person... I've had my fair share of shaving, Nairing, plucking and

bleaching. I did gain facial hair....which is not attractive.... but,

Thank God...I lost hair off my legs and underarms which by the way has

not grown back. I haven't tried the Nads but will order it. Thanks for

the info.

Now, I'm sooooo glad your feeling much better but I must caution you.

Being on the higher dosage of Prednisone and just coming out of a

cold.... your body can and will pick up anything. Your trip to your

mother-in-laws house just might push you over the edge. I know how much

you want to please the family but remember that your not normal.....

(how's that for a butter you up statement)

Please take it easy and don't do anything that might cause you to get

upset.

Who is closer to you... your mom or your mother-in-law? I'm so

thankful I don't have to go through that any more. I had the

mother-in-law from hell. Nothing was good enough for her baby. I swore

that when my daughter got married I would NEVER become a mother-in-law

from hell.

Take care,

Vicki-pm

To all considering NAD. My brother-in-law heard a

news article about NAD. It is kind of paste that is

applied and then ripped off. It is not for the

face!!! I am not sure any prendisone user should try

this produce. Definitely call the company and get all

the info. before ordering.

Please be careful.

Vicki,

I would welcome ANY reason not to go to my mother-in-law's house this

weekend. She is definitely not what I had in mind as a mother-in-law when I

married my husband. She is a complete control freak and she cannot stand it

that she thinks Bobby turned his back on her to be with his wife and

children. She is also very jealous of me because my life choices have been

different than hers. I have been very lucky in getting to spend lots of

time with my children that she didn't and I think that eats away at her

because she feels guilty. There are lots of issues, I could type all night

about the last 15 years.

We are going to my mother's Thanksgiving day and it will just be my mom, her

husband, my sister and my family. I am VERY close to my mother. She has

fibromyalgia also, so she really does understand pain and fatigue. It

should be a fun, relaxing day. No one has been sick at her house, so I

think I will be fine.

My mother-in-law is not too happy with us right now, so maybe I will get

lucky and she won't extend an invitation and then I won't have to worry

about it. She did mention wanting to take the boys to a movie, but she

often promises and never follows through. Needless to say, I did not tell

them she offered. I will wait and see what she does so they don't get their

hopes up only to get disappointed. And they will NOT be spending the night.

If they go to the movie, I can give his medicine before he goes and

when he comes home and it won't be a problem. We have no intention of

trusting her to give him his meds and he cannot go without them so he just

cannot spend the night at her house. He doesn't want to anyway.

My husband has promised that if we do end up at my mother-in-laws before the

weekend is over that he will be by my side. I know I can trust him to

protect me and make sure I don't get upset or overdo.

Thank you so much for your care and concern, it means the world to me.

Gentle hugs,

Fern
