Guest guest
Hi Ladies, Sorry I haven't been on in a while - I started a new job and things are a little hectic. I wanted to welcome the new members and also say that I am sorry that you had to join us, but glad you found us. I also think it would be wonderful if one or more of us could collaborate on an article. If even one OB/GYN reads it and it triggers a thought that a patient may not be infertile, but has ashermans and can be treated, it would be well worth the effort. (I had this problem with my OB/GYN - he kept saying that the likelihood of ashermans was practically zero!). Anyhow, here's my information: NAME & SURNAME Noell CITY / COUNTRY Grapevine, TX, USA (Dallas/Fort Worth area) DATE OF BIRTH 08-FEB-68 LIVING CHILDREN 0 NEXT APPOINTMENT n/a NEXT SURGERY n/a TYPE OF SURGERY (IE, HYSTEROSCOPY ETC) diagnostic hysteroscopy, laparoscopy and operative hysteroscopy, then a final diagnostic hysteroscopy after my surgery to verify the scar tissue was removed and had not reformed. CAUSE D & C following a miscarriage SEVERITY Mostly around the cervix and lower part of uterus. Most of the uterus was not affected, just that the adhesions and scarring where blocking my cervix. I am menstruating regularly now and am trying to conceive again. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
Guest guest
I would love to help with the publicity -- it's something I've been thinking about for a long time. Before I was a stay-at-home Mom I was a publicist and PR person so I can help. Poly Spyrou wrote: > , > I think your idea about collaborating an article is a very good one. Anybody good at this? Guest guest
Poly, I'll vounteer to help write it. I did miss the first part of this 'stream' - who are we writing this to (which magazine(s)?)? I guess the best thing to do is to get some of our medical information together and then write about the medical description of Ashermans along with some of our stories. Sound like a good place to start? > >Reply-To: Ashermansonelist >To: <Ashermansonelist> >Subject: Re: Dr's appointments and surgeries. >Date: Sat, 1 Apr 2000 18:12:24 +0300 > >, >I think your idea about collaborating an article is a very good one. >Anybody good at this? Guest guest
, I take it your questions were answered by reading through all the posts? and Celeste have volunteered to write something. I have passed the matter over to them so if you want to add your bit, it would be better to speak with them. It sounds like they are the professionals in this area. Take care. Guest guest
Poly - I am excellent at writing resumes, letters, articles - all sorts of stuff. We need to send each member a questionnaire, and find out which of our doctors will allow us to mention their names. I have so many ideas for it - will get started as soon as I can. But my life is out of control now - Jo got into an accident at day care. She is going to be OK but it has been a trauma. I am freaked out. I am going to my OB today for my pre-op follow up. So much has been happening with my daughter and my Asherman's - but don't have time right now. Will try to EMail the group with my woes after the appointment today. Love you guys! Guest guest
Hi Debbie: I only have one tube and two working ovaries and yes, I do menstruate every month. You will ovulate each month and your body will produce the necessary levels of estrogen to build the lining regardless of blocked or missing tubes. I never even knew that my right tube was not attached to my uterus until I went for testing and had a diagnostic hysteroscpy when I was 33! The detached tube is due to a uterine abnormality that I was born with. You can still get pregnant though because even if the egg is produced by the right ovary (like in my case) but cannot travel down the right tube, it can still be picked up by the left tube (this is what my RE told me when I asked if it were only possible to get pregnant every other month). Unfortunately (at least in my case) it takes longer to get pregnant. We tried for 9 months before seeking treatment. We ended up going through Invitro Fertilization and I am happy to report that I got pregnant and have a healthy 1 & 1/2 year old. Guest guest
Hi everyone, It's been a LONG time since I've been online and just to let you know - I had over 140 emails from this Asherman's group waiting anxiously for me to read. I just returned from my trip to the US to visit family. While I was there I had a 2nd opinion from Dr. Valle in Chicago and actually ended up deciding to have my 2nd surgery done by him. SO, last Tuesday (April 11) I had my 2nd operative hysteroscopy and 1st time laparoscopy. I'm now on the good ole premarin again (5 mg a day this time - which I think is a mega huge dose) and I stay on it for 1 month. He told me that he was able to open up my uterus and get the entrance to one of my fallopian tubes clear. He stated however that he was not able to clear the adhesions well enough to resolve the blocked other fallopian tube ( I don't really understand the full reason why not, but I'm planning on speaking with him again to find out; since he told me this as I was enjoying the after-effects of anesthesia- uncontrollable vomitting for hours- sorry for the expliciteness of this description.) So, I'm somewhat hopeful but in a reserved sort of way. I have a question for anyone out there - I know that you can get pregnant with one ovary/fallopian tube; but if you have the other ovary/and tube do you then only menstuate every other month? I know if you've had one ovary removed you then menstruate monthly with the one ovary; but if I still have my other one....?? It's on my list to talk to my dr. about also. In any case, I send my congratulations to those of you who have had such good news lately - it's really nice to hear good news from you. And I am so sorry for those of you who are like me, still in the waiting game. I will continue to wish you all happiness and successes. As for my information (a little late, but ...): >NAME & SURNAME Debbie Driessen >CITY / COUNTRY Amsterdam/ The Netherlands >DATE OF BIRTH 1-5-69 >LIVING CHILDREN 1 (biological child) >NEXT APPOINTMENT approx. 30 days for HSG >NEXT SURGERY n/a >TYPE OF SURGERY (IE, HYSTEROSCOPY ETC) 2 operative hysteroscopies, 1 laparoscopy >SEVERITY severe (stage III) >PRESUMED CAUSE infection during labor >MENSTRUATION none since Feb. 1998 Take care each and every one of yourselves. I'll be thinking about you all. Debbie
Guest guest
Celeste, Thank you so much for explaining your situation. I'm so glad that the IVF worked for you and I really hope that when you are ready and wish to have another child, that everything works out again. Isn't it amazing the things we learn about our bodies when we develop different problems?! Thanks for educating me on what to expect. It sounds so odd that the egg can be passed from one tube to the other if there are problems with one tube - I didn't know something like that was possible - are they really in connection with one another somehow, somewhere? How interesting. Thanks again for responding. Deb
Guest guest
Welcome back Debbie, I'm glad that things turned out well for you and that you had your hysteroscopy. I am a little confused about your talk on menstruating. I thought that we menstruated from the endometrium lining and ovulating had nothing to do with it? Hence, why we, with Ashermans have a problem? Correct me if I'm wrong. Poly Re: Dr's appointments and surgeries.
