Guest guest
Dede, Check out the organic sauerkraut recipe in the archives . . . provides good organisms - like Kefir does . . . You might have to cut back the salt content though. Go easy on the Kombucha tea . .. it contains sugar. The good organisms should outweigh that though. Guest guest
Hello Rogene ~ It would be ok to drink the tea? I havent tried any yet. I will look up the kraut recipe. I havent felt too good the last couple days, today included, so I am so far behind on my posts, and cant think to even write anything much...I guess it is foggy up there....lololol..... Reading all of your posts, you have been through so much, and come so far, and have so much energy and are involved in actually living, this gives me hope. I havent really lived in years, only existed in a world of severe pain and no answers.....I feel I am at the right place to get the knowledge and support I need, and am so greatful. I appreciate you and the girls so much ! Love, Hugs, prayers ~ DAOL now offers free email to everyone. Find out more about what's free from AOL at AOL.com. Guest guest
Rogene ~ Do you have to put sugar in it to make it grow and duplicate and ferment? Or can you not use sugar?? I have lost another couple pounds this week. Nothing has changed except cutting back on coreg mg per day, dropping the lasix, which I took one yesterday, had miserable night feeling sickly, stomach and kidney pains, but it got some fluid off my feet, I still feel pretty punky from it, so I wont do that one again ! ! So, I think the kefir is doing something good inside me ! ! I have gone from 179 to 172. I hope it keeps it up ! ! I have alot of detoxing to do.....Love and Hugs ~ DedeAOL now offers free email to everyone. Find out more about what's free from AOL at AOL.com. Guest guest
Dede, Drinking Kombucha tea was the first thing (alternative) I tried . . . I think someone mentioned drinking 1/4 cup a day . .. that sounds reasonable. . . Drinking much more will add a considerable amount of sugar. I hope you're feeling better today! Hugs and prayers, Rogene .
Guest guest
Kombucha tea is made by adding sugar to regular tea, then putting a Kombucha mushroom on top of it to grow. . . There is nothing (that I know of) beside sugar that will make it grow. The sugar does break down in the fermenting process . . . exactly how much is left in the final product, I don't know. If you let it grow too long, it will become vinegary . .. Yuck! . . There is a stage where it's slightly sweet, and lightly carbonated where it tastes wonderful . . . That's the stage where I'd suggest going easy on it. My only caution would be to go easy on it . . . You'll soon know it makes you feel better or not. You'll be getting a new mushroom every five days so so that you can share with others. . .. I put a piece of Kombucha mushroom on the area of my leg that had scleroderma . . . wrapping it to my leg with Saran wrap . .. I did this several times . . . My leg gradually started getting better . . . It grew coars, thick, dark hair. That was in 1994 . .. To this day, that area of my leg still grows more hair that anywhere else on my legs. Guest guest
Be careful of too much cabbage if you have a possible thyroid disorder. I love cabbage too, but from what I'm reading, it's not good to have too much of it if you have thyroid issues. Bummer! PattyDGRAHAMA@... wrote: Hello Rogene ~ It would be ok to drink the tea? Guest guest
I don't remember how much sauerkraut Dr. Rubin recommends in The Maker's Diet . . . However, in Patient Heal Thyself, he recommend two tablespoons at each meal. I'm concerned that might be too much salt for Dede though. Guest guest
Is there a particular saurkraut? I can check the salt content... I have a 1500 mg a day total sodium/salt restriction..so I may be able to do it. Hugs and Prayers ~DAOL now offers free email to everyone. Find out more about what's free from AOL at AOL.com. Guest guest
Rogene, thank you. Hey girl, you can bottle it and sell it to men for hair replacement...... I am going to read up on it more. So, what is this about you and scleroderma?? did you get rid of it????? I have seen an advanced case of it when I worked in derm. and she had areas all over her body, doc said she was in bad shape. What did you do to rid yourself of it or stop it? God Bless you my dear, you have been thru so much ! and you keep on shining ~ Love DAOL now offers free email to everyone. Guest guest
I had an area of scleroderma on the inside of my leg . .. just above the ankle . . . All the doctor who sent me for the biopsy would tell me is that "a lot of people have it . .. That's why they wear long pants." BTW, He was examining implant women for attorney's! The area was about the size and shape of an small egg . . . It gradually developed shortly before I was explanted . .. It was lightly discolored, mildly uncomfortable, and when I touched it, it felt just like bone. Where I got the idea, I don't know . .. I can only believe the Lord put it in my head . .. I was making and drinking Kombucha tea at the time. . . I decided to see what would happen if I put some on my leg. So I cut a piece of Kombuch mushroom off (that's tough stuff), put it on my leg and wrapped it with Saran wrap. . . Left it for several hours . .. repeated it several times. . . It started looking a little better all the time until it was gone. What is really strange is the area started growing dark, coarse, thick hair . .. not just the area that had scleroderma, but the larger area where the Kombucha mushroom was. . . That was about 1994 . . . To this day, that area still grows more hair than the rest of my legs. Before it was gone, a plastic surgeon, whose wife was very sick from scleroderma, (and breast implants) told me what it was. Rogene
