Does anyone else think the same thing? If we had experienced regular pregnancies and deliveries, we would have had a post-partum AF...my doctor counted mine as such. That was about the 4th day after my surgery. If I had been bleeding before they removed the catheter I didn't know about it. I remeber being inconvenienced b/c they said no tampons and I was angry. (What was I thinking I had just had my guts messed with). Then I think AF showed up on schedule. As you know I had a difficult surgery, so I was not really paying close attention to her arrival. It's been a while, so my memory is a little clouded. Tara af after ep I have heard many of you talking about waiting fro AF to come after your ep. I woke up after surgery to find AF already there. She came immediately after the pregnancy was gone. I realize that those of you who have been treated with metho did not see the result as quickly, but for those of you who had surgery, didn't you get AF pretty quickly afterwards? He brought me a bathrobe. That is what I wore home from the hospital...a bathrobe (and nothing else). Next time I will be sure to be specific with him, or else ask my Mom to take care of it for me Poor thing...he was beside himself...I know if he had been thinking clearly he would have done a better job...he is really a very thoughtful guy. Mine was very definitely more like a true AF...heavy, somewhat crampy, and (not to be gross) but also other things that usually accompany AF when it comes to me. It lasted about a week. It was even heavier than my normal AF, and I did not rupture either. I was in Hospital for 6 days after the surgery, and AF arrived about 4 days after surgery, and continued regularly from then on, so I guess I was lucky as it did not seem to throw my cycles out at all. sonja Re: af after ep , The doctor did a D & C to make sure everything was gone since the bleeding I was getting from my EP was much more than just spotting. It began as spotting, but after a few days it turned into major bleeding. I did start bleeding straight after surgery, but I was told that this was the same as postpartum bleeding, not true AF, that lasted about 3 days (same as after my son was born) and then AF started the next day, right when she was supposed to if I wasn't pg.What I want to know, is I know that apart from KRista, you all had your ep's rather early on, I had mine at 12 weeks, and about 3 days after surgery, my milk came in in leaps and bounds. They had to give me anti-lactating meds. to stop it, which took about 3-4 days to set in. This really depressed me, as I had no baby to feed. No one ever counselled me on this, or told me to expect it, and it was basically just dismissed, but it made me very sad for a long time, because it just reaffirmed that I was indeed pg. and carrying a baby inside me, that if everything went fine, would've needed that milk. The doctors that told me to just " get over it " did not understand that something like having milk, but no baby, would actually make me pretty sad. (sick huh?) About the hospital-provided drawers, do they think that all people are the same size? After I had my first child, they gave me some of those things and I did a double take. Those things are supposed to fit me? HA! I too am not small and I was even bigger after my first one because I had severe pre-eclampsia and had gained about 80 pounds so needless to say, I was rather puffy. The only good thing about that was that since my thighs were so big, the diapers (my endearing term for pads) didn't move much. (Sorry if that part was too graphic...) It starts at my belly button and goes beneath the pubic line. So if I wear bikins, about 3 inches sticks out (I'm high waisted). So my solution has been to wear french cut undies. They stop under the belly button and cut up high on the legs. They are not as sexy as the bikinis, but they'll do. I also wear my bathing suit this way too. I still have a few pair of non-granny undies, but if I wear them I just focus on the incision, and it ruins my mood. I would have to say maybe a year ago was the first time I went out and bought underwear that could go on the incision. Now I am back to undies up to my neck. I just can't win can I? My cesearian scar was pretty big, but with the ectopic, the doctor removed most of the old scar tissue, and gave me a really neat bikini cut, that is almost totally unvisible above my pubic hair-line, so I don't feel too concious of it. What I do have though, from my pg. with our son, is horrible stretch marks running down from below my bellybutton to my scar line, which I really hate, but my dh. says he likes them, so I think it is more me being self concious than anything else. What I do hate about my scar, is even though my cesear scar was more obvious, it was a good scar, I was proud to have it, but now, because the ectopic scar is the only one still there, I hate looking at it. I can't look at myself naked in a mirror or anything, because it reminds me of losing my baby, that scar is there because I could not keep my baby safe.. I hate having it, it is like being branded.... " you have lost a child " it says to me... I used to love touching my cesaer scar,as I remembered what it was like when Andre was born, but I have never touched this scar, it makes me feel all grossed out.
