Guest guest
Thanks Krista! I would never dream of doing anything without checking with my doctor first anyway...but I am especially careful about using " natural remedies " without directions as well. Just because it is natural does not mean it is always good for you! I have had all kinds of people offer me " fertility advice " ...everything from taking Geritol ( " My sister's best friend's cousin's niece had trouble getting pregnant and she started taking Geritol and she was pregnant within a month! " ) to herb blends (which I have heard can also be dangerous to a pregnancy without a doctor's supervision) to performance advice (positions, times, etc...WAY more than I want to know about some of these people) and now I have this chick on me about progesterone. I told her that I would wait for my test results and see what the doctor says before I committed to anything. Didn't someone on here mention going to a homeopathic doctor? I have the name of one who has been recommended to me, but I am waiting on test results before I decide if I want to go that route or not. Can you tell me if this is covered at all by insurance or give me an idea of what kind of money I may be looking at spending if I should decide to give it a whirl? Guest guest
, I did some research today, and found that the synthetic progesterone is the problem. However, this is cited with the absence of natural progesterone studies being done. They have only done the study with synthetic progesterone. Either way, I always check with my doctor before taking anything (even the Robitussin), too! Take care, Krista
Guest guest
Hi , I too receive all kinds of unsolicited advice from people about improving my chances of getting pregnant. Did you ever here about the Robitussin one. Don't laugh, but I did it and think about doing it again. I figured it was harmless and who knows it could even be true. You don't have to take that much just a tea spoon for a couple of days. I figured that remedy was the least intrusive of some of the others I heard so I'd give it a try. About the natural/herbal remedies. I have never known insurance companies to ever cover anything alternative. I know that when I went the " natural " way to help get my lupus in remission I couldn't afford it. I was still single back then and my parents had to help out. My mom was all for the natural route so she was more than happy to help out. It really depends on how deep you want to go. You can have consultations and then having to by all the suggested items gets costly. I was the one asking about the homeopathic doctor a few weeks ago. The other Stacey (Gambler) has seen one for a while and can probably give you some details about how costly it can be. I would like to have a consultation with a homeopathic doctor to see what he/she thinks about my situation. When I went the natural way with my Lupus I was very happy with the results. It was a commitment, but I was determined to feel better. Guest guest
, " Taking Charge of Your Fertility " by Toni Weschler. Take a look at the description on amazon.com It is a great book. Even if you aren't in the process of TTC. I learned a lot about my body from it. Take care, Krista
Guest guest
I have seen the Robitussin suggestion in print somewhere...is it in TCOYF? I have not tried it, but since my " fluids " are not ever the " eggwhite " type, I might need to give that one a whirl. I will ask my doctor about it and see what he says. Guest guest
Taking Charge of Your Fertility...it is a book that describes how to use fertility signs to help you determine when your most fertile time of your cycle is in order to either conceive or use alternate forms of bc in order to prevent pregnancy. I found it very informative.
