Guest guest
Hi All thought you might like to know that I am continuing to get supportive posts on my MATCH letter, as well as some rather less so. One PhD felt moved to describe me as a credit to Psychology - and Floyd, this guy really *is* a Professor of Psychology, not a " mere " Doctor like Stanton. I do believe I am forever prone to histrionics and that may have counted against me (a former director once described my acting as " wanking on stage " ) - but then, as the critics seem to either love me or hate me, i could be said to be getting the perfect reviews for notoriety and fame. i'm also trying to be a little more scholarly - perhaps it helped ppl sit up and take notice? There has been the usual hoohaa from non-professional groupers, most recently on an NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) addictions list. one woman wrote that they had never argued abt AA before I showed up - which is because there was never an AA skeptic before I'll bet - I didnt post on the topic first, I merely reponded to a pro-AA post exercising fair comment. it's not an AA list, so there's no reason why I shouldnt do so. One guy, in addition to suggesting I read all the AA literature, suggested also I read *Scripture*!! Yet he also holds that AA isnt religious, but that reading scripture might influence my opinion of it favourably?? Even more oddly, he suggested I read a book on Rational Behaviour Therapy, and claimed to have talked with Albert Ellis and that Ellis was not averse to AA (the book itself was not by Ellis). Yet Ellis allowed his " Case against Religiosity " to appear in Bufe's " AA:Cult or Cure? " which is highly critical of AA and advocates REBT as an alternative.
