Poly,

I don't know what to tell you as far as having bleeding like a normal period. Hopefully your doctor will give you an answer soon. I'm not sure why my RE said 3 months.

Today I had a doctors appointment for an ultrasound scan to check the follicles that were developing. On Saturday My RE was out of town ,so I saw the other doctor which today turned out to be a big misteke. The other doctor continued me on the highest dose of Repronex even though there were 9 follicles as of Saturday. Today when I went in My RE when doing the u/s scan of my ovaries said, " Jesus Christ. What was he thinking. " He told me that there were tons of eggs. He messured 30 eggs and he said there were more he didn't messure. I am so pissed at that other doctor that I could spit nails. Now this whole cycle is ruined and we have to start over next month. What a disaster and a waste of money. But the only good thing that came out of this is that my lining has built up to 9.5mm.Now I have to wait for my body to get a period and my ovaries to deflate. What a bunch of crap.

My prayers are with you all.

Periods

Tina,

Thanks for that information. I'm still waiting for an answer from Dr Magos on email so hopefully later on I will get his reply. I asked him if I should continue with the Premarin since he told me to stop for 7 days after a months intake to get my period. Now I have my period (if it is a period), I am confused as to what I am supposed to do. Mine is not just spotting but like a normal period like I used to have. It is real fresh blood.

I was wondering about what your RE told you that if you don't get pregnant within 3 months you should try surrogacy. Seems like a strange thing to say if you haven't even tried IVF treatment first!! Don't you agree?

Tina,

I cannot believe that ANOTHER doctor screwed up again!!!!! Are we magnets

for incompetence?? You are right though a 9.5mm lining is excellent. You

WILL get pregnant!! Hang in there!

Celeste,

Thank you for being optimistic for me because I don't feel very hopeful

lately. I Am so mad at that doctor that I would love to punch his lights

out. My DH called my doctor because I was so upset and the doctor told my

DH that he has seen some women produce high quantities of eggs like I did

especially if they have Polysistic ovaries. He also told my DH that if he

were to give me the HCG injection to release the eggs that it could kill my

ovaries. That would definitly not be good. My RE is going to send us some

forms to fill out from the company who makes Repronex and maybe we can get a

rebate on this screwed up cycle.

Right now all I am asking for is to have one child. After that I would leave

it in the hands of God if he wants me to have another well praise be to him,

but all I really want is one.Sorry to be a bummer but I know everyone

understands those days.

Thank you for your support.

Love always,

Tina

Tina,

I am so sorry that your cycle has been cancelled. Lets hope next time will be better for you because you have a better lining. I am still confused as to why your doctor said to go for surrogacy after 3 months. I note that you are the youngest member we have of only 26 years old and can't believe that your condition is worse than most of ours.

Tina, again, I need your help for the excel spreadsheet. Please bear with me everybody but I can promise you that you will all be thankful when you get this in your hands.

Have you had any surgeries at all for the treatment of ashermans? If so were they operative hysteroscopies or diagnostic?

Did your doctor use any type of balloon to try and keep your cavity open or prevent adhesions?

Do you know if your ashermans is severe, moderate or mild?

Did you have retained placenta followed by a D & C? Was your ashermans from the miscarriage or from the loss of your baby at 22 weeks?

Do you have a period? If so, is it light, moderate, normal as before ashermans.?

Did you have adhesions and scar tissue in your uterus and cervix?

Is your cavity open?

Poly,

Yes, it is true that I am the youngest of the group, but lately I feel like I'm older than I really am. I know with my age I at least have time on my side, but I still hurt like all of you. I wish that we all would get some good news thrown our way. Why didn't our parents tell us life would be like this?

Answers to your questions:

I have had two operative surgeries. A hysteroscopy in September with a balloon in place for a week. It was found my uterus grew together on one side.

In April I had a hysteroscopy/laporoscopy and there too I had a balloon in my uterus for 10 days. I was also put on 5mg a day of premerin for two months.

I would think that my ashermans is moderate to mild.It does not seem as bad as some of you have experienced.

Neither the doctor or myself are sure when I developed ashermans. I had a miscarriage in 1997 ,but I was only about 7 or 8 weeks along. My doctor said that I would not need a D & C because it was such an early miscarriage. I think I developed ashermans when I lost my daughter in March of 1999. I had to have a D & C then because not all the placenta came out and I also had a severe infection in my uterus.

As far as my periods, they started to get gradually lighter after I lost my daughter until all I had was spotting one or two days and that was all, but then again I never really got much of periods before(that was normal for me).

I know for sure I had scar tissue and that my uterus had grown together on one side which was found with the first surgery.

My cavity is now open and hopefully will stay that way.

HUGS TO YOU, POLY!!!

Tina,

You have alot of positives going for you at the moment. I know you must be

so dissappointed with this overstimulation cycle, but just think, you will

soon be trying again and hopefully things will be brighter the 2nd time

around. Stay as hopeful and positive as you can. I'll keep my toes and

fingers crossed that it works the next time around! Good luck.

  • 1 month later...

I don't think that the lining continues to grow. I think it just does not

shed at the time that it normally would. As least in my case, it took longer

to shed because of the high levels of estrogen. When I didn't get my period

(after Dr. Berger had done a scan on day 15 and my lining was 4mm) I called

him to tell him it never came. I was on approx. day 40 at that point. He

said to come in so he could do another scan. I did and my lining was thin

again. He thought maybe it had to do with my pituitary gland and that I may

not have ovulated. Who knows because I got a period a week later!

Sometimes, I just think our bodies get confused due to all the treatment. I

would NOT jump to any conclusions about scarring though. That is the least

likely if you have already had a lining measurement of 4.2mm.

I'm not sure about what the estrogen level measurement would tell you.

Hang in there!

Poly:

I'm sorry to hear you didn't get a period (or at least not much of one) I know you must be concerned.

I'd get back into your doctor right away and have him check for the reformation of scar tissue. My

RE claims that if it's going to reform it will within 2-3 weeks after surgery so it is possible that some

has grown back but you'll need another HSG or sonogram to know for sure.

As for hormonal levels...yours sound very normal. But I will mention that my RE only does LH and FSH

testing on day 3 or 4 (i.e. the third day after your menstrual cycle begins) because (and I've heard this

from other RE's as well) that is the only " reliable " time to test because after that point the levels vary

too much from person to person to get any indication of " normal " levels.

Also, you don't want and LH level that is too high...a high LH level is an indicator of premature ovarian

failure and/or menopause....so I think an 8 on a 1-10 scale is good...not too high, but not too low.

I would suggest asking your doctor to retest your LH and FSH levels on day 3 (check the INSIID Board

for more info. on this....that's where I first hear of it) and see what your levels are then. If they are in

the " normal " range then you probably have no hormonal reason not to be having periods. Mine were tested

and came back in the " low " normal range, we couldn't be sure that mine were being taken on day 3

as I haven't had a cycle since 1996! My RE said that he's quite sure that my problem is not hormonal

(especially evidenced by the fact that I still get PMS symptoms each month even though I have no flow

due to my scarring...)

Anyway, that's what I know....I suggest talking with your doctor about checking right away for new scar

tissue formation, and about retesting your levels on day 3....

Periods

Gwen,

I was expecting my period on 11th of August but it never came. Then on 14th (this Monday) when I went to the toilet, I noticed a little bit of blood (very little) on the toilet tissue. After that, no more. Last month, 18 days after my surgery I got a normal period and I was so excited. I am wondering then if what your doctor had said that scar tissue forms withing 2 or 3 weeks, I am now full of scar tissue again? I was so looking forward to a period and when I went last week to have a scan my largest islet of endometrium was up to 4.2mm! I am now worried about where the blood is going! By the way, you mentioned something about not getting periods and it being hormonal. Well, I recently had hormone tests done for FSH and LH 15 days after my period when I was supposed to be ovulating. FSH was 11.2 (normal is 2-11 and 4-20 during ovulation) LH was 8.89 (normal is 1-10 and >15 during ovulation) Although my FSH seems to be ok, my LH doesn't seem to be enough! Does that mean that I am not ovulating?

Gwen and others,

Thanks for the explanation. I'll try to remember what you said about having a LH and FSH only on the 3 or 4th day of my cycle. But does it not matter that I am taking eostrogen? Will that not affect the levels?

You say that my LH being normal. I only assumed it was not normal because it said >15 during ovulation and mine was only 8.89 during ovulation.

I will have to schedule another appointment early September to see my doctor in UK. Will this ever end?

Poly: I don't know whether the estrogen would affect your cycle or not, when a woman is on birth control pills

she is on estrogen, high enough levels of which can prevent you from ovulating, but doesn't prevent you from

having a period....BUT, you only get a period when your estrogen level drops " off " after taking the sugar pills (or

no pills at all for 3 days) so maybe, when you're on estrogen, you don't have periods until after you've stopped

for a few days? I don't know....I'd ask your doctor. (And let us know what he says!)

Gwen,

Originally, my doctor said that I should take the oestrogen for 28 days and stop for 7 to see if I get a period. When I got a period 18 days after surgery and whilst on oestrogen, my doctor said that The Premarin is a relatively weak oestrogen, so it would not suppress my ovarian cycle breaking through and giving a period despite the medication. So from that, I counted 33 days (my normal cycle) and waited for a period. I had a scan a few days before I expected a period and my endometrium had thickened to 4.2mm compared to 3.8mm 15 days prior. That was how I believed I would get a period. Anyhow, it all seems to be getting so confusing. I should get down and write to Dr Magos and see what he says, but it has been a rough week for me really and today is especially difficult as I gave birth to my twin boys Panayiotis and Theodoros last year. I visited their grave today and now I feel so much better for doing that.

Love
