Guest guest
Yup. April 3rd is when I get to set explant date. I have no idea why I think I need a lift. That's one of the decisions I'll have to make. I think that's my insecurities talking. A lift varies in price but I understand is around the $5,000 - $7,000 area or it is in Ontario. Alberta health insurance should pay for your explant. I know OHIP does in Ontario. That's great that your Husband really loves you. He'll stand by you. Your husband didn't push you into it, he has nothing to feel bad about. He'll only want what's best for you. Tell him how you feel and that you are worried about the I told you so speech. Tell him his love, not lectures will heal you. Guest guest
Crystaleann, It has been a rough road but my husband has been very supportive. There is no question in my mind that I want my implants gone, I do not care how I look. Later on in life if I can afford and need a lift, I will pay for one then. Right now it is about getting my health back. Since my health started failing in December, I have been seeing a psychologist. I have been diagnosed with depression and anxiety (along with all sorts of other conditions). Right now I take a very low dose of an anti-anxiety and anti-depressant, and I see a therapist to discuss my issues. I know that this is a temporary fix until the implants are removed and then I will quit the medication. I wish you so much luck. I am so happy that you have not become sick and that you found this site. Guest guest
Dearest Crystal: I had my breast implants implanted by Dr. Voloshin, who moved to the US because someone sued him. My implants were removed by Dr. Shimazu; however, he did not remove the capsules...he has retired, and he too was sued. Dr. removed the capsules a year later, but he did not clean out my right breast! Dr. Moysa is a good plastic surgeon; however, he is very busy. I was explanted in 1992...capsules in 1993, and I had the silicone for 18 years. They were grossly ruptured. I know many of the plastic surgeons here in Edmonton. I have about 3000 women who have called me for help in this area alone. Dr. at the UoA is good, but he too is busy. Honey, silicone breast implants leak from the day that they are implanted. We should try to help you to have them removed soon. When you say that you are not sick, it frightens me because most women tell me that they are not sick. When I start asking questions, they seem to have many symptoms. That you have had to have more surgeries is a red flag for me. Please tell your husband, because you will need his love and support. The ladies in this group are wonderful, and they have helped to save my life. My phone # is 780-434-2490 if you should wish to speak with me. We live in Riverbend. Mornings are the best time to call me, and you could call me right now. Guest guest
I have made a mistake! It should be Dr. Lobay; however, most plastic surgeons here want you to go back to your implanting surgeon. Dr. Moysa did not remove the capsules before, but he has now learned that this must be done. Guest guest
Crystal, Please don't have your implants replaced. They are not lifetime devices and will lead to more surgery and problems down the road. Sounds like you have had a terrible time already:( If you have to travel, you will have to pay your own way and accomodations. There are a few of us from Toronto and we will be able to make some suggestions of where you could stay affordably. You should also research BC if you can't find anyone in Alberta. Please read the FILES section and learn about all the important questions to ask the Dr. to make sure your explant gets done RIGHT. Katy:)crystal pollock <crystaleeann25@...> wrote: Really? Guest guest
Traci, Did you get Dr. Brown to agree to the 'en bloc' removal with drains?? I have thought about emailing his office with a list of how I would like my surgery done to see what the response would be. Glad things are coming along so quickly for you! Guest guest
Hahah! Traci, I worry about the 'sweat sock' thing too. I think it will be less expensive for the lift because OHIP will be covering all of the surgical costs such as anesthesiologist, location, etc under explant. I think you would just pay the surgeon fee for lift. I am just guessing but that makes sense to me. Dr. Brown told em he wouldn't want to do a lift at the same time as teh explant if I insisted on removing the implants, but I think I would prefer to get all the cost and surgery over in one swoop. I don't like surgery enough to go back for more and pay the entire fee for lift 6 mos later. Katy:)TM McIntosh <prowlermeow@...> wrote: Honestly Crystal, I'm terrified of the outcome. Guest guest
I do not want to bother you so how about you call me when you are not busy. I am a stay at home mom please call me anytime. Thank yo Crystal 780-937-8188Lea <devans@...> wrote: Dearest Crystal: I had my breast implants implanted by Dr. Guest guest
I think doctors tell you that they won't do a lift at the same time as explant, because they think you'll want to be reimplanted . . . There is no reason why you can't get a lift at the same time . .. All our recommended doctors are doing them - with excellent results! Is it that Dr. Brown doesn't know how, doesn't want to . .. or just wants to make more money doing an additonal surgery. . . I'd try to pin him down and make him prove his position . . . I don't believe he can! Rogene katy mclean <thesuddendeparture@...> wrote: Hahah! Traci, I worry about the 'sweat sock' thing too. Dr. Brown told em he wouldn't want to do a lift at the same time as teh explant if I insisted on removing the implants, but I think I would prefer to get all the cost and surgery over in one swoop. Guest guest
Wow Traci! . . . I'm so glad Dr. Brown sees they need to come out . . . Did he suggest no replacment, or did he just not mention replacing them? Be sure you get a committment and feel comfortable with everything he says. Guest guest
Dr. Brown said no replacement. In addition, he said "I will need to clean you out as well because of the capsule". On April 3rd we're going to discuss how the procedure is going to be done. He also looked very concerned and was very sympathetic.I'm definitely going to get a commitment and be comfortable before he does anything. The surgery will be taking place at Women's College Hospital and they specialize in Women's care. Here's the link www.womenscollegehospital.caHugs,TraciRogene S <saxony01@...> wrote: Wow Traci! . . . Guest guest
Awe Traci, This is such an emotional time for you and those close to you. I am thinking of you and sending wishes that you feel better!! You will be a wonderful support for Merebeth, eventhough you might not feel strong right now, YOU ARE!! April 3rd is coming very soon! Soon you will be on the road to better health! Hugs! xo Katy:)TM McIntosh <prowlermeow@...> wrote: Rogene,When I saw Dr. Brown he said he would do a lift at the same time and told me that my implants had to come out and recommended no replacement. I don't think I'm going to go for the lift, I just want these things out.My visit there was very positive. I can only speak on what I experienced during my consult.I'm going to continue with my research.Have to get some sleep now. Just came back from the viewing for Merebeth's husband. Funeral is tomorrow. Dana is still in a lot of pain from her ordeal but thank God we still have her. My stress is really high but I'm doing the best I can to get it down.I'm exhausted and feel like crap, however, I'll keep the faith and keep on going.Love Traci Rogene S <saxony01 > wrote: I think doctors tell you that they won't do a lift at the same time as explant, because they think you'll want to be reimplanted . . . Guest guest
Rogene, I assume that Dr. Brown thought I would be dissatisfied if I have my implants removed. I am 28, not married and have no children....He suggested I wait until later before I do anything rash. Also because I presented him with health issues, perhaps he thought that I just needed re-assurance so that I could feel fine about my implants because an expert had examined me and told me they are ok.. I am just speculating... I am going to send him an email stating that I plan to go ahead with an en bloc removal and see what the response will be. If he's going to help Traci, then perhaps he might still be able to help me. I am still exploring all of the options though. I want to do what I feel most comfortable with... I really appreciate all of your guidance through this:) Katy:)Rogene S <saxony01@...> wrote: I think doctors tell you that they won't do a lift at the same time as explant, because they think you'll want to be reimplanted . . . Is it that Dr. Brown doesn't know how, doesn't want to . .. or just wants to make more money doing an additonal surgery. . . I'd try to pin him down and make him prove his position . . . I don't believe he can! Rogene katy mclean <thesuddendeparture (DOT) ca> wrote: Hahah! Katy:)TM McIntosh <prowlermeow > wrote: Honestly Crystal, I'm terrified of the outcome. Guest guest
Katy, It would be wonderful if Dr. Brown would remove your implants properly! . . . I'm wondering that, after seeing you (and possibly more symptomatic women) that he's rethinking the idea that implants are safe? Just don't let him upset you again! . . . Remember this is YOUR body, and YOU have every right to request that he does what YOU want, as long as your request follows good medical practices. Hugs and prayers, Rogene
Guest guest
Hi Rogen, I had my ex-plant aug/2006 but I have been feeling worse than ever could it be that he did not do the en-bloc all the way and he left traces, I truly feel like am dying pains all over my body, I feel as they are pulling my hair and my neck I wake up as if i have arthritis my knees have been getting numbness in my toes. I feel very, very bad, I have an appointment with the neurologist because I feel as I have a tumor in my back because of the ongoing pain throughout out, what I can I do I feel my head with chills all day,m dis x-rays and nothing now hopefully am going to do MRI of the head and spine I pray to good is nothing bad....... Rogene S <saxony01@...> wrote: DFS, Explantation isn't rocket science . . . but a bad explantation can mean problems will continue. You have every right to expect the doctor will do what you want as long as the request is a good medical practice. You will also want your doctor to use drains following surgery. The drains should stay in until there is no significant drainage. Drains many not always be necessary - but, should there be a lot of fluid accumulation, you'll experience a lot of pain and may even need a further procedure to relieve the pressure. All that said, explant is usually much easier than implant . . .and recovery is usually quicker. . . If you are concerned about how you will look, the doctor can do a mastopexy (lift) that will remove excess skin and leave you looking great. . . Guest guest
Maritza, Please look into getting some adrenal function testing--and be aware of the pitfalls of going to an endocrinologist! They are notorious for downplaying these kinds of problems. I have been taking some Isocort regularly, along with some very small amounts of hydrocortisone cream and I am so happy to report that my knee pain is going away completely! It's been hurting for the past 6 months. It is also definitely helping my brain fog, which has come back recently (the last 6 months maybe) on and off. Now I think I know why. Interesting that my slight brain fog and knee pain seemed to come at the same time. I believe it is possible to self treat if the doctors are not willing to look outside the box and treat for symptoms, not numbers. If you take the plunge and try some new therapies you may be pleasantly surprised. My thinking is that it cannot hurt to try these things that are helping other women....and it may be an answer that you are searching for. It is so worth feeling good again to try new things, regardless of what the doctors are telling us. They are not gods, though they would like us to treat them that way. They stand in the way of feeling better, though that is what they are supposed to do. Someone called the endocrinologist an endo-crime-ologist....I think that fits in many cases! They way they fail at their job is criminal! So many people are left suffering. From what I understand, the adrenals need to be addressed before the thyroid can fully function well again if you are taking thyroid meds. The cortisol helps ensure that the thyroid meds get into the cell to be used. So, you can treat for adrenal insufficiency first, and treat for thyroid issues if you have them as well. Here's what I'm using: Ashwagandha extract, 3 times a day Licorice root in the AM Pregnenolone in the AM Isocort, 3 pellets 3 times a day Armour thyroid 1.5 grains in the AM, 1 grain in the afternoon hydrocortisone cream, small dab rubbed into my skin at 11 AM and 4 PM if I feel sluggish supplements that support thyroid and adrenal glands: multiple vitamins, minerals, Vit C, Cod Liver Oil, Evening Primrose Oil, Vit A & D, alpha lipoic acid, milk thistle, Magnesium, Wobenzymes, B-12 spray You can't give up hope. I hope you have been able to incorporate some detoxing methods into your lifestyle, and have been able to eat a good diet. I know this is all alot of work, but I think in time you can get better. Good doctors to help us are so hard to find. I'm just sick about it, but that is the reality, and sometimes we just have to be our own advocates and take things in hand. I wish you wellness.
