Guest guest
well, i can finally write that 's trach is out! cant beleive it fianlly happened. we went in tuesday, had the BAHA implant, bronchcoscopy etc, sent us to the PICU and wednesday 7:30am, I pulled 's trach! they kept us in the PICU 2 more nights and sent us home today, trach free! she needs a little O2 at night but that tto will pass! there only worry is 's swallow is still not great adn the sectretions pooling in her throat, but they felt it would be easier to swallow w/out the trach so they felt we shoul.d try. she did it! so excitited, however a bit nervous she has had it all her life (2 weeks shy of 8years old!) they say the next 2 weeks should tell it all! sooooooooooooo excitited, Cathie, 's mom

Guest guest
Hi , Well done all, well done ! It's not quite the same but your story kind of reminds me of the days when had her nasal stents out (at about 5 months old). A real mix of excitement, fear, joy, what ifs, no more suctioning once all was settled etc. Glad to say despite the constantly snotty nose, no more suctioning!! Must have been and still is a somewhat anxious time for you all. Wish you all the best of luck on you new adventure! Yes everyone, I have finally stopped masquerading as Simon (my partner) and joined the group in my own rights. Regards all, Flo (mum to (3) and Elly (driving us all mad with crawling adventures!) >From: NPTQueenie@... >Reply-To: CHARGE >To: CHARGE >Subject: Trach Out! >Date: Fri, 13 Jun 2003 16:53:21 EDT > >well, i can finally write that 's trach is out! cant beleive it >fianlly >happened. we went in tuesday, had the BAHA implant, bronchcoscopy etc, >sent >us to the PICU and wednesday 7:30am, I pulled 's trach! they kept us >in >the PICU 2 more nights and sent us home today, trach free! she needs a >little >O2 at night but that tto will pass! there only worry is 's swallow is >still not great adn the sectretions pooling in her throat, but they felt it >would be easier to swallow w/out the trach so they felt we shoul.d try. >she did >it! so excitited, however a bit nervous she has had it all her life (2 >weeks >shy of 8years old!) they say the next 2 weeks should tell it all! >sooooooooooooo excitited, Cathie, 's mom > > >
