Guest guest
Your readings should be between 70 & 120 from what I can gather they can also go as high as a bit over 180 but should never stay above 180 for long when my other meters say 60 they say 30 . I have two meters though that constantly read 30 below my other meters I don't have any confidence in them and if they read 190 should I believe them ? Sincerely, Please reply to dune31@... Guest guest
Get a calibrating solution from the drug store and test your meters, if you have one that is reading way off, I would recommend getting in contact with the manufacturer and see if they will replace for it being faulty. Guest guest
Kitty, So far I've seen several people give you some very good advice about your low readings. I'd just like to add a couple more. These bits of information are in my Owners Booklet for my OneTouch FastTake blood glucose monitor. 1. Severe dehydration and excessive water loss may cause false low readings. If you believe you are suffering from severe dehydration, consult your healthcare professional immediately. 2. Test results below 60 mg/dL (3.3 mmol/L) mean low blood glucose (hypoglycemia). Test results greater than 240 mg/dL (13.3 mmol/L) mean high blood glucose (hyperglycemia). If you get results below 60 mg/dL or above 240 mg/dL, and do not have symptoms, first repeat the test. If you have symptoms or continue to get results that fall below 60 mg/dL or above 240 mg/dL, follow the treatment advice of your healthcare professional. Readings below 20 mg/dL indicates severe hypoglycemia. If your results are below 20 mg/dL, you should see your doctor immediately. 3. If you are experiencing symptoms that are not consistent with your blood glucose test results AND you have followed all instructions described in the FastTake Owner's Booklet, call your healthcare professional. 4. A red blood cell count (hematocrit) that is very high (above 55%) or very low (below 30%) can cause false results. 5. Additionally, it's very important to store your test strip package in a cool, dry place below 86 degrees F. Keep away from direct sunlight and heat. Do NOT refrigerate. As Tim has already said, it's VERY important to get a calibrating solution from the drug store and test your meters. The test control solution contains a 'known' amount of glucose that reacts with your test strips. I test with a calibrating solution weekly just to make sure the meter is operating accurately. Hope you get everything straightened out soon. Guest guest
I want to thank everybody for their input on my readings. I call healthcare provider and they told me to try more carbs and test after 2 hours. So I did and reading was 95 than this morning fat reading was 108. Do you buy the calibrating solution from drugstore or do they test there? I guess I need to get me a backup meter too. Oh what would we do without this list!!! Guest guest
Kitty, You buy the calibrating solution. Ask the pharmacist about it and he will be more than happy to explain to you where it is and how to use it. And if you take the meter with you, and ask real nicely and smile real pretty he/she may even show you how to do the calibrating test. With the higher readings are you feeling better than with them so low? Good Luck Happy Holidays Tim Kitty Wrye wrote: I want to thank everybody for their input on my readings.
