Hi Carolyn,

That is good that the doctor specified Vascular

Dementia which is caused by strokes and/or TIAs. However, some of the things

that you spoke about in your last post sound like LBD - the intermittent

outburts and then fine in between. It is possible that he has LBD and then

because he had a stroke the doctors are treating him as only having Vascular

Dementia. Perhaps it would be good to get a geriatric neurologist to do a full

work-up of test to determine if he does have LBD or not. Mom would get very

upset if I ever mentioned her mind failing, etc. and she used to tell me that if

she ever got dementia that she didn't want to live. I never really talked to

her about her have LBD, but she heard what the doctors said when we went to

appointments and I believe that she lost her will to live and passed away less

than 2 1/2 months after the dementia diagnosis from something totally unrelated.

You and your husband are in my thoughts and in my prayers.

Joan

with stroke effects? What diagnosing features does your husband have to

determine LBD, and what " brain pill " is he taking? Fluctuation in cognitive

ability, " show time " when needed for family, friends, doctors, as in putting on

a good cognitive display for a short time, and hallucinations are some common

LBD symptoms. You'll find much information in our links section to help you

understand Lewy Body better.
