I have those pretty burner covers on my stovetop and I turned the wrong burner on and burnt through two covers and I couldn't figure out what the awful smell was but it was the paint and I think it took some of the enamel paint off my stove also. Good to hear everything is all right at your house. I have done that with those burner covers too - and boy do they stink!!!!
