Guest guest
I've gone through the muscle failure stuff a couple of times, , it's, for me, from doing too much and my body not yet able to recover... It's not unusual for us to need extra time to 'rest up'.. not like before when you had yourself a good night's sleep and a good breakfast and were good to go the next day.... Hang in there... You're body is just getting the thyroid it needs and is doing a LOT of repair and rebalancing work... When your muscles are fatigued and you are feeling weak like that, give them some time to rest up... but still keep doing gentle stretches to keep your muscles and joints from tightening up. It also encourages blood flow to the muscles which speeds healing and reduces cramping. Just imagine stuff like yoga.. no weights/resistance.. just slowing and gently moving your body and limbs. For your abs.. perhaps what I did will work for you as well. I have problems with my neck and back... and knees... so getting up and down from the floor is not an option and doing sit ups in bed when you are pretty big AND have weak abs really doesn't work either... I started doing a modified crunch in my office chair... How far I lean it back regulates how much resistance I have on my abs as I do my crunch... It seems weird... but when you're first starting out and the muscles are weak and you have to reduce the resistance that your own body weight adds AND you can only do a few at a time as you build muscle strength.. It's handy to just push back from the keyboard several times a day and do your 'routine'. I firmly believe that those of us that injury and tire easily and have long recovery times benefit far more from doing very short routines regularly to gradually build endurance and strength. It encourages/stimulates the muscles with less chance of fatigue and the concept of doing it several times a day, lightly like that, I think is good for the soul... you feel far more like you are doing something positive, without feeling so restricted because you body is still so challenged. The is a computer program that I've played with, the demo version.. that has a timer and such to remind you to take breaks and do simply exercises while at work, in your office chair. I so wish I could afford to buy the full version. But even with the restrictions that the demo version has I find it very useful to remind me to stop and stretch to oxygenate all the muscles, it really helps.... I've been using it again while dealing with my funky leg to make sure that I don't mess up the rest of me from backing off my regular bedxercises and to keep my blood flowing freely to encourage my legs to heal. The program is called Fitwork (DOT) . it's a 1.4 meg download. You should be able to google it... I found it 2 or 3 years ago... Guest guest
ontracting the stomach muscles while sitting down - holding it all, releasing. Hold as long as you can, then release. Do as many times as you can. It is actually more effective than crunches for the stomach, Jan her_fathers_eyes wrote: * Hi all, just checking in ,,* * I,m still making progress but , I,m experiencing serious muscle weakness in upper arms and legs,, either I over did this week,am having an MS relapse (Which I can,t do anything about), or could be due to the loss of weight * * at any rate I think I will have to be pretty lazy this week, I hate to do it as I am trying to build up my muscles,to compensate for the weight loss, * * but, oh well, gotta also realize I,m 50 years old and my body has taken a beating for years, LOL, I,m not a spring chicken any more, * * most of my fatigue now I think is due to just being tired from going all day , , * * I,m trying to figure out how to exercise my stomach muscles I cant do sit ups or crunches, any suggestions??* * Love and gentle huggs, * * *

Guest guest
You can lie down, legs bent like you are gonna do a regular crunch, stretch your arms over your head, cross your hands, and do short crunches like that.
