Guest guest
Hoo-Raa Tony! Sounds promising to me, but before I commit, precisely, what am I committing to. Sounds like you have some good ideas, so what are they? Troy Boulter TDCJ-ERT

Guest guest
Tony, You can count me in. I've only been in EMS a short time, but in this short time I've seen alot and learned alot. I would be more than happy to assist you in any way I possible can. I was taught the importance of being professional and the importance of providing the best patient care possible by three ladies with whom I had the privalage of working my first EMS job with. So let me know what i can do to help and I will do it. You can e-mail me directly at jimmiewest@... Jimmie D. Guest guest
Tony, I'm interested in exactly what you propose, if you are proposing a professional association, not a union. We NEED an organization who represents patient care, innovation, and excellence. We need a lobbying effort. If you are motiated to start a grass-roots effort to form such an organization, I'm with you. pikeemtp@... Steve Pike Forming EMS Agency Ladies and Gentlemen of EMS: I have seen EMS make huge strides from the days of ambulance operation out of funeral homes to what it is now, however, we are stumbling over red tape, poor management, and dealings with small minded individuals who don't know the first thing about integrity, honor, pride, dedication, loyalty, professionalism and simply providing the best care possible to the citizens we serve. I have discovered people on this list server that are motivated and truly care about EMS and where it's at and where it should be. There are some people I know who can make great changes if they just had away to express themselves with some support. Currently, most agencies out there involved in EMS are making things more difficult on field crews while trying to make themselves look good by passing more protocols and revising until you cannot revise anymore. Let's take the people who really give a damn about EMS in Texas and form an agency that will strive to make the necessary changes. Let's work to raise the standard, but also work to improve communications and bond with allied personnel in a fashion that will be productive and conducive to providing the best care possible. Anyone interested in creating such an agency, please respond asap. I for one am tired of all the B.S.! I will not stand idle and watch EMS deteriorate into more bickering and procrastination. I am drawing the line in the sand, who will fight? Guest guest
Tony: I'd be game to take on the challenge if its done right and done for the right reasons. The hacks and fossils that have a stranglehold on EMS in Texas right now will destroy it if something different isn't done soon. However, bear in mind that this is a tough job and these beasts have shown their capacity to stick a shive in the back of anyone who doesn't agree with them time and time again. You have to be prepared to fight with honor, but to show no mercy. You have to have a better idea formulated and must be prepared to convince people it is better than what is in place. Nevertheless, you have to leave room for compromise. You also have to enlist the support of other groups with a vested interest in a healthy EMS system (what we have couldn't be called healthy by any stretch of the imagination). Finally, whatever else you do, you must charter your organization so it can lobby in the legislature. The reactionaries have used that process to undermine every effort made to improve EMS in this state, so you must use it, too. Why don't you think about the idea for a few days and then post a statement of purposes, goals, and approaches so those of us who might be interested can see if its something we could be part of.
