Guest guest
I am sorry you are having a bad time with the charlie horse pain. I can tell you a small way to avoid a full blown cramp on the leg. As painful as it may get(I get the reeeeeal severe ones), with leg straight point your toes up toward your chin as you are lieing on your back. This takes the cramp out. It works, it really really works. It is like the vinegar thing, sounds goofy but it really works. Got the technique from a therapist friend. Hope it helps.   Subject: RE: Re: --and question about charlie horses To: fibromyalgiacured Date: Saturday, September 18, 2010, 7:31 PM  Manesium is supposed to relieve/prevent muscle cramping and twitching. My kids are supposed ot be on 1500 -2000mg daily...and I know from reading for my Mom that women over 50 should be on 2000mg daily. You also need to take calcium with the magnesium. You can usually get them combined to alleviate needing to know the ratio:) I can look up the ratio if you'd like. I can't remember it off the top of my head. Also Malic acid, found in apples, but you can also buy a supplement is great at relieving and preventing muscle pain and cramping. I don't know this from experience yet because I haven't started to give it to my mom. We're slowly working our way where we need to be. But the magnesium I have seen tremendous positive results for her. Bromelaine is a digestive enzyme that if taken between meals can help heal muscle injury and lower inflammation.
