Guest guest
Z. aka Mom, Thanks for caring, but I did space it out... I planted the live plants over 2 days and I'm taking a break this week and will probably do seeds next weekend. My husband tilled it for me and went and bought a soaker hose. The planting or "playing in the dirt" is good mental therapy. Kerry IPF '01 S. Bob Marley -------------- Original message -------------- From: Kerry Geron <kerrygeron> Joanie, I thought of you and Bud yesterday right before the race. I figured you two might be fans living in land. I love the Black Eyed 's as much as the Lily's for the Filly's and the Roses. Wasn't it a great race? You couldn't ask for a more exciting one than 19th to 1st. It is especially fun to watch w/ friends. We opted out of our normal Derby party this year because it seems w/ our remodel in progress and vacation coming up that there's so much to do around here. We've been shopping the last 2 days for lighting, vanity, toilet, etc. and then yesterday afternoon I went shopping for veggies/flowers and was planting right up til race time. We all stopped for the race and watched all the excitement. Each of us picked a horse. My husband picked the winner, my son the second place (amazing that horse hung on the entire race in the front), my daughter and I ended up 14th and 17th. Then I was back out to plant mor e. After that we cleaned up and grilled out and enjoyed dinner on the deck. The weather really ended up great. Beautiful today, so I'm heading out to plant the rest. Anyway, you were in my thoughts and I was glad to read I was right. Kerry IPF '01 Kentucky Derby-anabud_kilmon <bud_kilmon> wrote: Dear Joyce,Bud is on 5 lpm continuously as well. He, too, feels like he has to push himself or he just won't get anything accomplished. I can't believe we have stated opting for drive-through meals rather than get the wheelchair out of the trunk, and all that entails to go inside a restaurant. We went to a friends' house this evening to watch the Kentucky Derby and he wanted to walk in under his own steam (with the O2, mind you). The purple ears, lips and nose were a bad sign. His blood ox was 66 (I carry the pulse oximeter with me, as someone on this board suggested, so if I ever have to call 911, I can tell them what his reading is). Within 5 minutes, he quickly rose to 96, but he had to get out of the car, walk maybe 10' then up 3 steps, until he could sit on a stool in the kitchen. That little bit of exertion, literally takes his breath away. But I'm so glad we didn't stay home - we both had a really good time ! We have visited these frineds before and their house is not conducive to a wheelchair getting from the living room to the dining room. Everything in life these days just takes longer to do, takes more pre-planning before any event, and we stay very aware of where each other is in a room.
