Guest guest
Phenol Assist is already listed as SCD-legal, I think. Why doesn't anyone else ever suggest that? I checked with Kirkman that my son is allowed to take that along with his regular digestive enzyme. Teri Ian 5.5, ASD, SCD 10/03 Re: SV: Problems with fruit Ulla, Have you tried digestive enzymes? Before we started enzymes (several years ago), my boys had undigested food in their stools. It's worth a shot anyway. We use No Fenol for fruits and veggies. I think the SCD legal versions of Houston's Enzymes will be ready soon. I will write and ask. Guest guest
I have never used Phenol Assist. I only recommended No Fenol because it worked so well for my boys. Maybe someone can share the experience with using Phenol Assist. Jody mom to -5.1 and -7.
Guest guest
enzymes drastically alter the approach to scd particularly allowing more latitide with dairy. enzymes and modifyed scd allow a higher metabloic gain space than either enzymes or scd alone and i don't think its fair to parents to give the impression just straight scd can give the same results. the difference between the negative effect of the toxic metabolic by products and the gain of positive metabolic processes is the topic of this board and you can call it scd, modiyed scd, scd and enzymes or whatever but there is only one real process of discovery............highlighted by progress and steady consitent improvement. > " perhaps for the same reason enzymes are avoided on this board. Guest guest
, What do you not understand about Jody's statement on why we don't discuss enzymes here in a specific fashion? Repeating: There is information in De Felice's book and on her web site. She contributes valuable and informed comments on enzymes to the list periodically. This group was started as a companion guide for SCD. Very often you perceive an effort to keep Pecan Bread in focus and on track with a perception that we do not entertain approval for the use of supplements and enzymes and view SCD as perfect and inviolate and not open to questioning. You post scientific information that although accurate, is too technical and confusing to those getting started. Nothing prevents you from private discussions on these topic with people of your choice. I have enjoyed several such interesting exchanges with you and hope this can continue. This list now has nearly 600 and if we don't do the job we committed to we will not be effective with our stated mission. Specific enzyme recommendations were not written into the original SCD. For autism we have included legal and illegal lists but we simply cannot get people started, keep them on track and be all things to all people caring for autism children. As adults, both you and I do not have the pressures and constraints that the parents here do. I have told you privately and am repeating publicly that Elaine has often stated she doesn't purport to know every answer to everything and has relied on the foundations set out by the doctors Haas when in doubt. She continues to study the latest research and to instigate research of SCD. Possibly, future research will require changes to SCD. Elaine already removed a few items that could not be relied on as she gained new perceptions of their effects and/or formulation. Weight control companies like to revise their diets every few years to renew their appeal and attract new customers. We don't do that as SCD is about healing, not selling! We don't have to be " sexy. " I repeat, we are in healing, not in business. The only thing we are selling is the book needed for the diet and you can read it in the library if you choose. Meanwhile there is no visible pressing need to make the revisions you refer to from time to time. This attitude is severely trying the patience of those who moderate the list but they hesitate to exclude anyone's voice or participation. I apologize if we are not sufficiently progressive here. You often criticize how the group is run yet you remain here so one can only presume that you certainly see some value in it. Please keep in mind we have 573 other people to consider and this diet will not be revised to your specifications. This is not directed to you as a person but at certain criticisms you frequently express. > > the difference between the negative effect of the toxic metabolic by > products and the gain of positive metabolic processes is the topic of > this board and you can call it scd, modiyed scd, scd and enzymes or > whatever but there is only one real process of > discovery............highlighted by progress and steady consitent > improvement. > > Carol F. --------- c.frilegh@...
